Disney Family Movies: Daily Movie Review

For the month of October Disney Family Movies is offering one free month when you sign up! The participating cable providers are Mediacom, Cox and AT & T U-verse. Read more HERE.

We’re highlighting one great movie per day that’s currently playing on Disney Family Movies. For Muppet Monday, it’s everyone’s favorite gang of furry, funny creatures— Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal & the gang— the Muppets, in their original trip to the big screen for the family classic, The Muppet Movie.

For families who enjoyed the Muppets return to the silver screen in the Academy Award-winning The Muppets, 1979’s classic The Muppet Movie is a perfect way to introduce— or reintroduce— Jim Henson’s Gonzo-of-a-gang to kids of all ages! Filmed coming off of their phenomenally successful international variety show The Muppet Show…

(For the single greatest Muppets video, here’s O.K. Go! performing The Muppet Show theme)

The Muppet Movie tells the story of Kermit the Frog as he goes West, young frog, to conquer Hollywood! It’s one of the oldest showbiz success stories in the book, and no one tells it better than the classic comedy duo of Jim Henson (performing, amongst others, Kermit, Rowlf, and Waldorf) and Frank Oz (Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Statler) in an endearing and oftentimes hilarious (tadpole) tale chock-a-block with celebrity cameos, including funny folks Steve Martin, Bob Hope, Mel Brooks, Madeline Kahn, and the biggest star of all— Big Bird! And of course no memories of The Muppet Movie would be complete without humming a few bars of its enchanting tunes, as this is the movie that introduced the human world to ‘Movin’ Right Along,’ ‘Can You Picture That?,’ ‘The Magic Store,’ and, of course, ‘The Rainbow Connection’.

Co-written by the late Muppet maestro Jerry Juhl (the head writer of The Muppet Theater), Disney Family Movies invites you to gather the lovers, the dreamers and the popcorn, and settle in for 1979’s classic trip of Muppet mayhem, The Muppet Movie.
  1. Gather the gang to see the Muppet gang in the trailer;
  2. Time-travel back to 1979 and go on the set of The Muppet Movie;
  3. Enjoy more Muppet madness with the official YouTube channel of the Muppets;
  4. And follow the Muppet-y magic on Twitter.
They’ll be more Disney Family Movies daily reviews all this week, but be sure to join us next Monday for another Muppet Monday. Wocka, wocka!
