Universal Orlando: SS 44 Demolition Update (Part 2)

Here you are more photos of the demolition of Sound-stage 44:

The walls wrap around the entire area and extend all the way to the New York section of the park:

And now, here you are some interesting "behind-the-walls" shots:

Temporary stairs:

That's the Monsters Cafe' right there:

When we were leaving, we notice this vehicle carrying something to the SS44 area:

Anybody knows what these may be?:

And this is all, for now.

Thank you very much for viewing. A complete Universal Studios update will be posted soon. Stay tuned.

  1. Loving all this construction at Universal. Always happy to see a park address empty buildings and wasted space.
Now if only Epcot and Hollywood Studios could do the same....

  2. This lot is huge. It's close to the waterfront. What if they could include a second level restaurant with views over the park and lake. Immagine how awesome that would be to sit there during the night time show.
I hope they make it bautifully themed on the outside. Universal has some wonderfull streets but the studio streets aren't one of them. Now what is going into this huge space?

    Thnks for the pictures!

  3. It's a huge space and the Building is going to be 4 stories tall! That's a BIG transformation!! HINT.

  4. I thought that I had read the lot wasn't large enough for Transformers. Well, whatever it turns out to be, the anticipation is the fun part.

  5. Anonymous 1,
You are so right, Epcot is such a beautiful park, but it is so empty. Epcot needs to get a revamp on "Future World." And Put and E-Ticket in the "Worlds Showcase."
DHS is suppose to make a big announcement so hopefully the Monster's Inc Ride Goes Through!

  6. If you do a measurement comparison of the Transformers building in Hollywood to the SS44 space, you will see that if it is going to be Transformers, they will also have to demo Monsters Cafe as well. But it's interesting that they have reopened (character breakfast currently) Cafe La Bamba recently...

  10. I would put money that it will not be Transformers for many reasons, the main 2 are the building area is not big enough or deep enough....they had to dig at least 10 feet down here in USH and why put the exact same ride in 2 parks next to each other?

Also the water is sprayed to eke the dust and other things from flying around. The things being trucked in looked like pigs to collect anything that might be draining from parts of the building!

  12. An interesting idea I think would be to do a "Haunted House/Ghost Train" attraction in the style of The Haunted Mansion at Magic Kingdom, however themed to famous Universal horror films like Psycho, The Wolfman, Dracula, Frankenstein, etc. Also being that the "Monsters Cafe" would be right next door, the attraction would fit right into the area, wouldn't it?
