Celebrate "World Oceans Day" at Walt Disney World

While the official "World Oceans Day" is recognized Monday, June 8, The Seas with Nemo & Friends pavilion at Epcot will celebrate this special occasion on Wednesday, June 3, to get a head start on celebrating the beauty of our oceans and the creatures that live there. Guests will have the opportunity to explore the 5.7-million-gallon saltwater aquarium, learn interesting facts about the animals and play at different ocean-themed areas inside The Seas from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Activities that all Guests will be able to enjoy will include the following (subject to change):

It's Tough to be a Sea Turtle
A replica sea turtle nest will allow Guests to see the start of a sea turtle's journey as they battle seemingly insurmountable odds from their first day of life. Guests will also learn how people around the world are doing their part to help protect these animals. Smaller Guests can crawl through a turtle excluder device (TED) to experience how fishermen have altered their nets to avoid accidentally catching sea turtles. Guests can also learn how they, too, can help turtles.

Coral Conservation
Guests will learn about coral reefs and their role in the ocean as well as the incredible work being done at Abaco in The Bahamas. Teams at The Seas are committed to coral restoration and are currently working on a project in The Bahamas to restore local reefs through coral transplantation and sea urchin translocation. Guests will be able to learn from and speak with members of the team directly involved with these projects.

Seas Team Presentations
Guests will be able to interact with some of the experts at The Seas about the different jobs, activities and responsibilities they do on a daily basis.
