Disney Princess Half Marathon Road Impacts (Feb. 19-22)


The Walt Disney World Resort will be hosting the popular Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend presented by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Feb. 19 through Feb. 22, 2015. For that reason, you should be aware that several roads will be operating under traffic restrictions or closed completely starting from 4:00 a.m. through 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21 and then again from 11:00 p.m. (Saturday) through 11 a.m. on Sunday, February 22, 2015.


ROAD CLOSURES:
  • February 21, 2015 - Disney Princess Enchanted 10K– Major roads, including Epcot Center Drive, Backstage Lane and Epcot Toll Plaza, will be closed or operating under traffic restrictions starting at 4:00 a.m. on Saturday. Traffic will be back to normal by 7:30 a.m.
  • February 22, 2015 - Disney Princess Half Marathon– Major roads, including Epcot Center Drive, Floridian Way and World Drive, will be closed or operating under traffic restrictions starting at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. All traffic will be back to normal by 11:00 a.m on Sunday.

WALT DISNEY WORLD TRANSPORTATION CHANGES:
Due to this event, Guests are strongly encouraged to use the Walt Disney World Transportation whenever possible (buses, monorail, etc.), and allow for extra travel time to get to their destination.

To accommodate Guests participating in runDisney races for the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, the monorail operations will begin earlier on the following dates:

February 20, 2015:
  • Resorts line will operate from 4:15 a.m. until close.
  • Epcot line will operate from 4:15 a.m. until close.
  • Express line will operate from 8:30 a.m. until close.

February 21, 2015:
  • Resorts line will operate from 3:30 a.m. until close.
  • Epcot line will operate from 3:30 a.m. until close.
  • Express line will operate from 8:30 a.m. until close.

February 22, 2015:
  • Resorts line will operate from 3:00 a.m. until close.
  • Epcot line will operate from 3:00 a.m. until close.
  • Express line will operate from 5:00 a.m. until close.

TRANSPORTATION ADVISORIES FOR SELECT DISNEY HOTEL GUESTS:
Guests staying at any of the official Walt Disney Wold Resort hotels are recommended to traveling to Epcot or Magic Kingdom Park at 11:00 a.m. or later on Sunday due to early morning race activity.

Guests traveling on Disney’s Magical Express may experience some delays with motorcoach pick-up. Guests should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled pick-up time. If traveling to off-property locations on Sunday morning, Guests should check with the Concierge for the best route to reach their destination.

Polynesian, Contemporary and Grand Floridian Resorts:

-Visiting a Theme Park
On Sunday morning, bus transportation from the front of the Resort will be suspended. Guests wishing to take Walt Disney World bus transportation to other locations between 7:00 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. on Sunday should take the monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center and then transfer to a bus.

- Resort Parking
On Sunday between 4:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., due to the course of the Half Marathon, you may experience some delays on World Drive and Floridian Way.

Old Key West and Port Orleans Resorts:

- Resort Impacts
Please be aware that on Sunday morning, there will be small fireworks bursts at the start of each runner group. These bursts will last about five seconds each and will take place intermittently from 5:30 a.m. to 6:40 a.m. For the safety of everyone, participants are not allowed to go directly to their corrals or the start line. All participants and spectators must enter through the Epcot parking lot. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

BoardWalk, Yacht & Beach Club, Swan & Dolphin Resorts:

- Resort Impacts
The race route will create heavy foot traffic around Crescent Lake from 6:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on Saturday.
