Walt Disney World Resort: New 2013 Park Maps

Completely redesigned park maps will be officially unveiled at the Walt Disney World Resort starting from March 3, 2013 (that's just two days away!). They will feature many important changes. Enhancements include:
  • New images throughout the maps;
  • The addition of select merchandise location;
  • A new panel featuring special entertainment and attractions;
  • The addition of animal icons to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park Guidemap;
  • All maps are now created to scale.
Why were the maps changed? Well, first of all because the current park maps's design has been around for many years (at least since 2006), so this will make them more appealing to Guests in general. In addition to that, according to  Disney, all guidemaps are now "closely aligned with other Guest planning tools, such as My Disney Experience. This creates a more seamless experience for our Guests from the moment they begin planning their vacations at home to the moment they arrive at the Walt Disney World Resort."

Here's now an overview of all the new maps (NOTE: Click on the link under the photo to see it in full size):

- MAGIC KINGDOM -
- EPCOT -
- DISNEY'S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS -
- DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM THEME PARK -
- DOWNTOWN DISNEY -
- DISNEY'S WATER PARKS -
- ESPN WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS COMPLEX -

Now that you have seen all of them, what do you think? Do you like this new design? Share your comments!

  2. New Maps are horrible. The Modernization of the layout, and information is great.

  3. I feel like there wasting space. And I don't know if this is just me, but the maps make the parks look smaller. Why does the Magic Kingdom need to have all the extra green on the top!

  4. The entrance of the park should always be at the bottom of the page. It makes it very confusing this new way. You are going to have to turn the map and read it upside down.

  5. So strange to see Epcot and Hollywood Studios flipped like that...

  7. The map orientation is in line with standard Google Maps etc. It keeps everything consistent in my mind - so thumbs up from me!

  8. Nope, Not a fan, the cartooniness is gone! I dont like all the grey, and indeed the entrance should always be at the bottom, regardless of how it looks on google, its how your stood in the park, youll LITERALLY have the spin the map around in the park to work out where you are from the second you arrive!

  11. Don't be fooled "fatdonut" your not in the minority. These are just the posts from nay sayers. Those of us who can appreciate the new maps , and can determine up-down-left-right without actually flipping the map around, just don't always leave a comment. I say Good Job to Disney.
