Rumor: LEGOLAND's 2013 Plans May Have Changed

A recent rumor shared by Screamscape has put a very interesting spin on the rumored LEGOLAND Florida 2013 expansion plans. As many of you know, the original plans included a copy of the Pirate Shores themed area, which is currently found at LEGOLAND California and other LEGOLAND parks around the world. That said, it looks like we may receive something completely different. Take a look (from Screamscape.com):

I’m... being told that construction on the park’s new land is under way and anyone who takes a spin on The Dragon coaster can see it quite well it seems. There has been a switch it seems with the theme of the new land and rides… as the park is rumored to have dumped the Pirate Shores theme in favor of something new that will be unique to Legoland Florida when it opens in Summer 2013.
In other news, I’m told there is another area of the park fenced off directly behind the Coastersaurus ride for another possible new addition for late 2013 or 2014. Anyone know more about what may be going on here?

We personally would love to see something original coming to LEGOLAND Florida. Also, this seems like an understandable change, as the park already has a Pirates-themed area, albeit a very small one (it only has one show). But, what could be the theme of this new rumored area? And what attractions may it include? Also, what is the second major expansion project rumored to bring something new in the area directly behind Coastersaurus (mentioned at the end of Screamscape's rumor)? Let the speculation begin...

  1. Sounds cool to me! I've always felt that they should do some kind of space theme (Space Police and Alien Invasion are two Lego lines) instead of the Pirate Shores! Maybe that will come to fruition? Also, the area behind Coastersaurus is HUGE and could easily be developed into something cool (I'm thinking a Dino Jungle to keep with the area's theme.)
