Ride removal at Universal??

A Screamscape news:

"(4/15/10) Lots of rumors lately seem to indicate that Universal Orlando is attempting to choose their next attraction target for demoltion, making way for some new unknown new attraction. While Behind the Thrills mentions that Jimmy Neuton’s rocket is currently missing as a sign that the ride could be on the way out, a Screamscape reader also took a survey for Universal last week that paints a different picture.

The main focus of the survey seemed to ask a lot of specific questions about two older park attraction… ET Adventure and Twister. While Twister did replace Ghostbusters years ago, and has really failed to make a big impact, ET Adventure is one of the park’s remaining original attractions. Of course about a year ago we had heard numerous rumors that painted a rather grim picture for the future of Terminator 2 / 3D as well. Put the four together, and I think we’ve got a nice short list. Which would you rather see removed?

ET Adventure
Jimmy Neutron
Terminator 2 / 3D
Twister"

Back to us. I have to start saying that if they happen to take away either ET Adventure or Terminator 2: 3D, I will go less to Universal. I just love those rides! Why don't they consider getting rid of the most stupid rides, like Jimmy Neutron (that luckily was in the survey), Fear Factor (!) or using the space they have to build a new ride in a NEW building???

What do you think? Let us know!

  1. Least to most favorite:

    1. Jimmy Neutron
    2. Terminator
    3. ET
    4. Twister

Although there is an attraction that should be removed that is not on this list: LUCY: A TRIBUTE

  3. Personally, I'd rather see Jimmy Neutron and Twister go first, because E.T. is a classic that doesn't need to go the same way as BTTF did, and Terminator needs to run as long as possible 'til they shut it down to replace it with a Transformers ride.

What? You know it's coming. I'm calling it now. Along with the hundreds of other people that've speculated it.

Anyway, why would they replace a ride and not build a new ride building? 'cause it's cheaper to gut an existing ride and build around the existing building than to build everything from scratch.

So I can only imagine what they'd replace Jimmy with, since the show building isn't exactly what I'd call huge, but then again, neither is E.T.'s.

  4. Removing ET and Terminator would be a huge mistake but they need a little loving care put into them to get them fresh again.
Twister I really like also and it nice to watch on a hot day.
Jimmy N,well I gues you have to have rides for the kids and its good fun for them.
Depend really whats we get in return.

  6. Thanks everyone for leaving your thoughts. I wanted to say that like many of you, I like all of them except Jimmy Neutron, which is the worst simulator ever (film and movements).

I also agree with you Tim, Lucy: a Tribute is nothing special, but remember that it's situated in an extremely small building, so they could leave it without counting it as an "attraction"...

To the first Anonymous: I think that Terminator it's fine, and they may only update its special effects (some pyrotechnic effects, for example), while I don't think they will put Transformers In Universal Studios Florida, because of course we have Spiderman which is very similar, mechanically speaking...

  7. I love ET Adventure, and Twister's pretty cool too. I didn't get a chance to go to Terminator 2: 3D when I've been there, but Jimmy Netron I wouldn't be too upset if it was gone. Jimmy Neutron, along with other nicktoons featured on the ride aren't even on the air anymore.

  8. Twister is #1 on my chopping list

  9. Many of you are saying that Twister is the worst attraction in the park, and this surprises me a lot, since a ride like Jimmy Neutron seems to me much worse!
Can some of you explain why you hate so much Twister? Thanks.
    I personally enjoy it (it's very life-like)...

P.S.- Bigfoot, if you have questions, don't hesitate to contact me by e-mail or by comments!

Jake, you should check out Terminator! It's very well done!

  10. In response largely to Samuele:

Terminator's 'fine', yes, but so was BTTF, so I'm not counting anything out at this point. If Terminator's going to stay, it needs an update bad.

And the only thing I really like about Twister is the queue. Everything else is mediocre and it was a poor choice to replace Ghostbusters. Even the central focus of the show, the twister itself, is mediocre and boring. The first time I got on there it was pretty neat, but every time after that made me realize how lackluster and boring it was.

I think most of the individuals that visit this blog will agree with me that they would have rather had an updated Ghostbusters show than to have had to put up with Twister for so long.

Then again, they say you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone, so..

  11. Id say get rid of the jimmy one cause its pointless. Id say they could do a revamp of et by updating the audio electronics by making them a little more advance

  12. Jimmy Neutron is gone, but its been replaced by Despicable Me Mayhem, everything else is still there

  13. Transformer is there now in its own building...I would say take out. E.T it's a cool ride but it's dated...I just came back from universal studios Japan and they replaced the E.T ride with space fantasy the ride....THAT RIDE IS AMAZING I vote it comes to Orlando !
