  1. Thanks for another great update. Though the 7 Dwarfs mine train is looking cool, Universal Orlando could have built 3 Hogwart Castles in the time they've taken!

    1. You realize it look Universal nearly 10 years to complete the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. I hate to start a fight but your argument is invalid.

  2. Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs has endured for 60 years. Will Harry Potter last that long? We'll see. I have no problem with Disney taking their time. They build things to last. I rather have them take their time and get it right. By the way, it is a lot further along than what I saw in July. We know it will be done in 2014. Wait and see. It will be great, I'm sure!

  3. @Karen Who knows, lets hope not so they'll freshen it up unlike Disney that keeps their amazing rides going forever like many pavilions at Epcot, all shows and most rides at DHS and more.
Yes the 7 dwarf coaster looks nice but maybe they could let some people work on it, the site is empty!

  4. Universal and Disney are doing things right. As the first part of Fantasyland opened in Nov/Dec last year so really it's classed as new attractions for 2013. 2012 was the circus area and within the next month the meet and greet area will open so that leaves the Mine train to open next year. Also during that time they upgraded rides, adding interactive queue lines and new games. I guest the next project at the Magic Kingdom will be Tomorrowland. As most work has happened here Epcot,DHS,DTD&AK has been overlooked. At Universal before Concast took over Universal Studios was in a bad shape. Now they got a rollercoaster coaster,Minions ride,Transformers ride,Simpsons area with rides,Rethemed Earthquake ride and the buildings repainted and repaired. Harry Potter new area will have taken roughly 2&a half years from the moment the last riders went on Jaws to the new area opening.

  5. Maybe HP took 10 years to develop from initial concept to completion. But it did not take 10 years to build! I don't believe it started firm development until Comcast took over Universal.

Don't get me wrong, I love Disneyworld, but I just am quite frustrated with it right now. I feel they are in a similar situation to what Universal were when Comcast took over. The new Fantasyland looks great and is a move in the right direction, but the 3 other parks are being seriously overlooked. Disney seem to spend majority of their refurb and maintenance time on the Magic Kingdom, whilst the other parks need a bit more TLC.

Whether HP, Despicable me etc stand the test of time or not doesn't really matter if Universal are willing to keep the attractions new, exciting and fresh for their audience.

Rumours at Disney suggest there are things in the pipeline, but I still maintain it's not happening quite quick enough. Look at Avatarland; announce 2 years ago, and still no groundbreaking yet (ok so they've started on the new Lion King Stadium).

In my view, I just find it frustrating that at the moment they rely too much on the 'Disney brand' to keep them on top. Go back 10 years or so and the Disney parks were light years ahead in every aspect of all the other parks, but now they have some serious competition on their hands.

Sorry I don't mean to cause argument and I do see both sides. I just want Disney to reclaim that position of being way ahead!
