PHOTOS: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Guests Can Now See a Babirusa Piglet in The Oasis

A Babirusa piglet named Kirana recently took her first steps into The Oasis at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park! The little one is growing quickly – she’s 3 months old and weighs about 25 pounds!

Here are a few more fun facts about Kirana:
  • She’s the first babirusa piglet to be born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Born in late May, Kirana is another success story for the dedicated team of Disney animal care experts, as parents Betty and Mentari were chosen to breed through the Species Survival Plan (SSP) overseen by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
  • Kirana means “sunbeam” in Indonesian. Her dad’s name, Mentari, means “sun.”
  • Mom, Betty, recently taught Kirana to climb onto the scale for a weekly weigh-in with the animal care team so they can monitor her growth.
