This Week in Disney History: January 13-19, 2020

There’s always a great, big, beautiful tomorrow at The Walt Disney Company, because every day is tied to a milestone in the heritage and rich history of a company that has been entertaining millions of people every year. Published every week, this interesting series features highlights from all the divisions of The Walt Disney Company. Let's see what happened this week:

On Jan. 15, 1975, Space Mountain opened its port doors for the first galaxy-bound travelers at Magic Kingdom Park. This classic ride was envisioned by Imagineers in the 1960s when space travel became a remarkable reality, not just the stuff of science fiction. Even real astronauts joined the creative team in developing this attraction.

Due to rocketing in popularity, Space Mountain attractions have since opened at Disneyland Park in 1977, at Tokyo Disneyland in 1983, at Disneyland Paris in 1995, and at Hong Kong Disneyland in 2005.
