Brevard Zoo Releases Three Rehabilitated Sea Turtles

After months of rehabilitation at Brevard Zoo’s Sea Turtle Healing Center, loggerhead sea turtles Josie and Thurber, and juvenile green sea turtle Boxer were released at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach on August 1. Brevard County Ocean Rescue escorted the reptiles from the parking lot to the beach, where roughly 200 spectators eagerly sent them off. Sea Turtle Preservation Society provided educational materials.

“Release day is always my favorite day,” said Shanon Gann, the Zoo’s sea turtle program manager. “It warms my heart to see such tremendous community support for these magnificent creatures.”
