Flamingo Crossings Update: Work on New Hotels Begins Soon

After more than a decade of delays, it appears that construction might finally begin soon in the infamous Flamingo Crossings area. Located just outside the western gateway of the Walt Disney World Resort, this area was originally intended to become a shopping and dining district that would act as a cheaper alternative to Downtown Disney (now called Disney Springs). Sadly, after the original announcement, the area remained mostly empty and only two small hotels have been built since 2007.

Earlier today, though, we noticed that a large portion of Flamingo Crossings is being prepared for construction, meaning that we might finally see some movement in this area. Let's take a look around together.

As you can see, crews are getting ready to start construction:

A gravel road allows vehicles to access the construction site, which is also surrounded by a temporary barrier:

The left side of the road will house shops and restaurants, while the right side will feature multiple hotels:
