Tour de Turtles Event Returns to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort on July 28

The sea turtles have returned for another year of nesting at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and it is time to get ready for the great sea turtle race! Tour de Turtles is one of the highlights of the season as it gives Guests the chance to see loggerhead sea turtles in the daylight hours!

This special event is also a great opportunity to see how satellite transmitters are attached to their shells to track the turtles’ movements while they embark on their amazing ocean journey as they leave their nesting beach and race to their feeding grounds. After laying all those eggs, these turtles are hungry! Will they head to the Keys, the Caribbean, or to a new region of the world that we have yet to discover? You can follow their journey on www.tourdeturtles.org.

Starting at 7 a.m. on July 28, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort will host many fun activities for families to learn about sea turtles and how they can help protect these amazing animals. Whether you are running through a turtle-excluder device that saves turtles from being caught in nets, or taking your photo next to the beautiful “Toy Story” sand sculpture, you can join the fun as we work together to save sea turtles!

With such high demand to attend Tour de Turtles, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is completely booked for this event. So if you haven’t already made your resort reservation, you will need to look for a hotel in the area. In addition to that, the Disney Parks Blog will be live-streaming Tour de Turtles.
