LEGOLAND Florida to Preview New VR Roller Coaster at IAAPA

For the first time ever, LEGOLAND Florida Resort will share a sneak preview of its virtual reality roller coaster adventure for kids, The Great LEGO Race. Media attending the annual IAAPA Attractions Expo in Orlando will have an opportunity to experience the 360-degree action with VR headsets as part of an exclusive demo. The exciting attraction will open Nov. 22 at LEGOLAND Malaysia Resort, followed in Spring 2018 at LEGOLAND Florida Resort and Germany’s LEGOLAND Deutschland.

Developed under the supervision of MERLIN MAGIC MAKING, the global creative and delivery division of parent company MERLIN ENTERTAINMENTS, The Great LEGO Race will transform existing “Project X” roller coasters into a high-octane experience that puts guests in the driver’s seat. Featuring a colorful lineup of racers drawn from the ranks of the popular LEGO minifigure mystery assortments, the attraction pits riders in a rollicking race against wild, LEGO-built contraptions through a variety of different environments on the ground and in the air.

Wearing VR headsets, guests will experience the action from every direction – up, down, forward, backward and all points in between – in a dazzling environment where everything is made of LEGO bricks. During the ride, VR COASTER’S patented technology will sync the virtual visuals created by FIGMENT PRODUCTIONS with the MACK RIDES roller coaster’s twists, turns, drops and climbs, creating an awesome experience filled with thrills, spills, surprises and humor.
