Select Theme Parks & Attractions to Be Impacted by Hurricane Irma

Hurricane Irma has turned into a very powerful hurricane that's currently moving across the Atlantic Ocean, affecting some islands including St. Barts, St. Martin, and Puerto Rico. Recent forecast models have shown that the hurricane may make its way to Florida, possibly impacting thousands of residents and visitors. While it is still early to know exactly which path the hurricane will follow, some of the area's theme parks and attractions are getting ready to face this powerful storm.


The following list includes all the theme parks and attractions that will be impacted by inclement weather in the coming days. Be sure to check this page often as it will be updated regularly to reflect further operational adjustments.

CENTRAL FLORIDA AIRPORTS:
  • Orlando International Airport will suspend all flights at 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 9.
  • Orlando Sanford International Airport will close at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday September 9.

WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT:
  • Magic Kingdom will close at 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 9 and will remain closed through Monday, September 11.
    • The Saturday, September 9 Happily Ever After fireworks performance is canceled.
  • Epcot will close at 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 9 and will remain closed through Monday, September 11.
    • The Saturday, September 9 Illuminations Reflections of Earth performance is canceled.
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 9 and will remain closed through Monday.
    • The Saturday, September 9 Fantasmic! and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular performances are canceled.
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be closing on September 9 at 7 p.m. and will remain closed through Monday
    • The Saturday, September 9 Rivers of Light performance is canceled.
  • Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will be closed Sunday, September 10  – Monday, September 11.
  • Disney’s Blizzard Beach will be closed Friday, September 8 – Monday, September 11.
  • ESPN Wide World of Sports will be closed Saturday, September 9 –  Monday, September 11.
    • The Night of Joy event will not take place on Saturday, September 9.
  • Disney Springs will close at 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 9 and will remain closed through Monday, September 11.
    • Aerophile (located at Disney Springs) will be temporarily closed beginning Wednesday, Sept. 6.
    • The Saturday, September 9 performance of Cirque du Soleil's La Nouba has been cancelled.
  • Disney’s Fantasia Gardens will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday and will remain closed through Monday.
  • Disney’s Winter Summerland will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday and will remain closed through Monday.
  • Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is evacuating Guests.
  • Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort is evacuating Guests.
  • Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is closed.
  • Spirit of Aloha dinner shows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be cancelled on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
  • All spa locations will remain open Saturday and will be closed Sunday and Monday.
  • Boardwalk Promenade entertainment and food and beverage offerings may be limited during the storm.

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT:
  • Universal Studios Florida will close at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 9 and will remain closed through Monday, September 11.
  • Islands of Adventure will close at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 9 and will remain closed through Monday, September 11.
  • Universal's Volcano Bay will close at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 9 and will remain closed through Monday, September 11.
  • Rock the Universe will not take place on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10.

SEAWORLD PARKS & RESORTS ORLANDO:
  • SeaWorld Orlando will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday and will remain closed through Monday.
  • Discovery Cove will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday and will remain closed through Monday.
  • Aquatica, SeaWorld's Water Park will be closed Saturday, September 9 –  Monday, September 11.

BUSCH GARDENS TAMPA BAY:
  • Busch Gardens Tampa Bay will be closed Saturday, September 9 –  Monday, September 11.
  • The Guy Harvey Weekend events on Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10 have been postponed to Dec. 16-17.
  • Adventure Island will be closed Saturday, September 9 –  Monday, September 11.

LEGOLAND FLORIDA RESORT:
  • LEGOLAND Park will be closed Saturday, September 9 –  Monday, September 11.
  • LEGOLAND's Water Park will be closed Saturday, September 9 –  Monday, September 11.

OTHER THEME PARKS & ATTRACTIONS:
  • Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will be closed September 8 through September 12.
  • Fun Spot's parks in Orlando and Kissimmee will be closed Sunday, September 10  – Monday, September 11.
  • The Orlando Eye will be closed Saturday, September 9 –  Monday, September 11.
  • Madame Tussauds Orlando will be closed Saturday, September 9 –  Monday, September 11.
  • SEA LIFE Orlando Aquarium will be closed Saturday, September 9 –  Monday, September 11.
  • Medieval Times will be closed Saturday, September 9 –  Monday, September 11.
  • iFLY Orlando will have reduced hours Friday (10 a.m. - 3 p.m.) and will be closed Saturday-Monday.
  • I-Drive NASCAR will be closed Sunday, September 10  – Monday, September 11.
  • Brevard Zoo and Treetop Trek will be closed from Saturday to Monday.
  • Wonderworks Orlando will close early Saturday, September 9 and will be closed all day Sunday. The attraction might reopen late Monday evening.

  1. I wonder how this storm will affect Night of Joy at the Wide World of Sports complex? I believe the event is Friday and Saturday, with concerts both indoors and outdoors, and sporting activities taking place outside too.

  2. SunRail will stop running at 8:33 PM. The last SB Train is at 6:00 PM, last NB train at 7:30 PM.
