Trail Behind Tree of Life Reopens and Kangaroos Return

The trail found between Creature Comforts and Adventurers Outpost is once again open for Guest use at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park following an extended refurbishment (note that Tarzan will not be returning to his previous location on the trail, and will instead continue to meet at his current location near Pizzafari). Also, after time away while work was taking place around Discovery Island, red kangaroos have returned to their habitat near the Tree of Life.

Interesting facts about red kangaroos:
Red kangaroos in the wild call Australia home, where theey graze on herbs, grass, and shrubs.

Kangaroos cannot move their legs independently, which is actually very beneficial. Using this unique bipedal hop, kangaroos use less energy at full speed than they do walking slowly. At full speed, they can travel at 35 mph. Their other unique feature that helps them when travelling at this speed is their tail which they can use as a boat-like rudder to help them streer as they travel.

Hop over to Discovery Island to see the red kangaroos at the Tree of Life during your next visit.

  2. Great news! Thanks for posting this. We were there a couple weeks ago for the first time in 2.5 years. We were (sadly) a few weeks early for Rivers of Light, but loved Kilimanjaro Safaris at night, the more open area in front of the ToL, the ToL Awakenings and the evening entertainment. We were hoping the trails around the ToL would open sometime, so great to read that they now are. :-)
