The Muppets Take Over Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom

Everyone’s favorite zany characters are now starring in an all-new live show at the Magic Kingdom Park. “The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History” is filled with laughter as the town crier of Liberty Square, James “JJ” Jefferson, is joined by Sam Eagle, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear and The Great Gonzo to tell stories of American History. Show creators wanted to be as authentic to the Muppets as possible and keep the integrity of the characters.

“We’re excited to bring the Muppets and their wacky humor to Liberty Square, telling these historical tales in hysterical fashion as only they can,” said Tara Anderson, Show Director.

“The show truly feels like the Muppets,” said Show Director James Silson. “We had a lot of input from The Muppet Studios. They have been very involved with us from the beginning and they will continue to have involvement.”

The performance contains an original song written by Valerie Vigoda and Brendan Milburn who also wrote music for “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” and for the movie “Tinker Bell: Secret of the Wings.”

“I think there is a lot of excitement around the show, and Guests are going to love it,” said James. “It’s magical to see the Muppets pop up in the windows in Liberty Square, even for someone like me who has worked in puppetry for a very long time.”

Tara explained that because the Muppets' appeal is multi-generational, Guests of all ages can relate to the show. “Parents are going to watch the show with their children, and they both are going to laugh! It’s the Muppets we know and love, but new.”
