Busch Gardens Invites Guests to Learn More About Tigers

On Friday, July 29, 2016, Guests are invited to come out and show their stripes as Busch Gardens Tampa hosts its fourth annual Global Tiger Day celebration.
As part of the celebration, Guests will be able to watch the park's tigers receive special enrichment at the 12:30 p.m. "keeper talk" in Tiger Trails, meet some of the tiger keepers and ask them questions about these amazing animals, as well as take part in fun activities in the Tiger Lodge between 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Global Tiger Day was created in 2010 as an international collaborative effort to celebrate and raise awareness for this endangered species threatened with extinction. Tigers have lost 97% of their wild habitat with as few as 3,200 living in the wild today. It’s estimated that tigers in the wild could be extinct in as little as five years.

The SeaWorld and Busch Gardens Conservation Fund supports many conservation projects including the Kerinci Seblat Tiger Project with Fauna and Flora International who are working in Indonesia to preserve critical tiger habitat and to protect tigers against poaching for the illegal wildlife trade.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay participates in over 120 Species Survival Plans (SSP), including the Malayan Tiger SSP, and the birth of our cubs in 2013 helped to contribute to a population of 65 individuals. The SSP promotes a healthy managed tiger population that, in generations to come, could involve tigers being reintroduced to the wild.
