Disney’s Hollywood Studios Morning Rope Drop Expanded

As some of our Readers may already know, all four Walt Disney World theme parks usually open certain areas of the park about 15 to 30 minutes before the advertised opening time (Magic Kingdom may open a smaller area on certain days due to the Welcome Show) to begin spreading the crowds that could end up clogging the park entrances. Hollywood Studios is seemingly benefiting from this, as the morning rope drop was recently expanded to additional areas.

The following sections of the park will open as part of the adjusted morning rope drop in addition to the other areas that have been included in this process since it was officially reintroduced earlier this year:
  • Sunset Boulevard (between Reel Vogue and the Planet Hollywood Superstore);
  • Center Stage (by Hollywood Brown Derby & Lounge);
  • Echo Lake (around Indiana Jones, Dinosaur Gertie’s, and Min & Bill’s Dockside Diner).
Here is a map that will help you to visualize the entire area that will open before the rest of the park:

The additional amount of space that has been created allows an even larger number of Guests to station themselves near the attractions that they would like to experience first right after entering the park.

  1. I use to like the rope drop at MGM when the actors would act like there directing a movie and pick some people out of the crowd to be part of it and the final scene was us walking forward and cheering.

  2. Im not 100% sure what this means. Do the attractions open earlier too?

  3. No, the attractions are still scheduled to open at the regular opening time. Rope drop just allows Guests to get closer to the attractions they want to experience (and maybe even do some shopping and/or eat breakfast) before the park officially opens for the day to maximize their time.

  4. So is it the main entrance and then you ask/tell them where you would like to be? Or is this a separate entrance like Animal Kingdom has? Thanks. :)

  5. Guests are free to start lining up anywhere they'd like after entering the park. There is no need to ask Cast Members (unless you are not sure which location would work best for you). We hope this helps.
