The Incredible Hulk Coaster to Close for Major Rehab

After months of rumors and speculation, the official Universal Orlando Blog announced that one of Islands of Adventure's most iconic attractions will soon go down for a lengthy refurbishment that will include some important changes.
According to the blog post, some of the main features of The Incredible Hulk Coaster (which has been operating in the Marvel themed area of the park since 1999) will soon be enhanced to provide an even more thrilling experience.

Here is the original announcement (the following photos were not included in the original blog post):

"We want to let you know that The Incredible Hulk Coaster will be getting some great, new enhancements to its storyline, ride vehicles and overall experience.

That work means we’ll have to close the attraction beginning September 8. It will roar back to life next summer and we’ll keep you posted on the details. In the meantime, be sure to check out the other great, thrilling, experiences at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, including Dr. Doom’s FearFall, Dragon Challenge, Jurassic Park River Adventure, and more.

I’ve been lucky enough to get a sneak peek at plans for The Incredible Hulk Coaster, and I can tell you the overall experience is going to feel more immersive and high-tech. But don’t worry—the attraction will still have the same “Incredible” personality that makes it one of America’s most popular coasters."

  2. A great new enhancement I would like, is the ability to take my cell phone with me when I ride.

  3. Are any rides going to be open by the time I go in mid September? ! Seems like all that is happening lately, is that all the rides in disney/universal are closing. Not impressed in the slightest, what a waste of money!

  4. The Hulk needs a rehab. It has been riding rough lately.. I'll bet that it won't be called Hulk anymore by the way the announcement reads. It only says that it will have the same "Incredible" personality. Sounds like a rebranding is coming. Disney does own Marvel now, so maybe Universal is looking to start changing the theming of some of it's attractions.

  5. Maybe something like "Fast And The Furious?"
    Lol, let the rumours begin!

  7. I'm not so sure it will still be called the Hulk. None of the news sources says it will reopen with the same name. They are also supposed to be closing Dr Doom sometime next year also, so maybe ann @ 10:09 could be right. Even though they are both part of Superhero Island, maybe there is something more going on. But, they just redid Spider-Man..

  9. I love the Hulk but this is much needed, the area where the head went gave myself and everyone I went with awful headaches. They need to be softer or something to where you do not feel like you are going to get a concussion every time you go on the ride. I'm a big Universal guy, season pass holder and I don't even live in Florida. Can't wait to see the changes!
