Reign of Kong Update: The Entrance Arch Takes Shape

The new King Kong area continues to take shape fairly quickly at Islands of Adventure. In the past few months, we have mostly focused our attention on the main facade covering the attraction's building; this time, we will also take a close look at the great themed arch that will introduce Guests to the world of Kong.
Construction is also taking place around the rumored loading/unloading area of the future ride, which is still mostly unthemed at this time. Let's explore the area.

The main facade towering over the new land can be seen from Toon Lagoon:

Getting closer:

We noticed some interesting lights/sensors above the entrance leading to the indoor portion of the ride:

From Jurassic Park:

A closer look at the facade:

The entrance arch that will soon welcome Guest to the Reign of Kong:

If you pay close attention, you can see that the frame already looks like Kong's head:

A front view:

The view of the arch from the area next to the entrance of the Thunder Falls Terrace:

The rest of the building:

It looks like some of the outer walls of the building were scraped for some reason:

And that is all for now. Before concluding, remember to like us on our official Facebook page and follow us on Twitter for live updates from the parks. Thank you for your support, and see you again real soon.

  1. Was this suppose to tie in with the Skull Island movie, If so Universal might have trouble vcause Skull Island movie just fall apart, Michael Keaton and JK Simons just bailed on it

  3. Does anyone remember the Simpson's Halloween episode where Homer was King Kong? This attraction could make a hilarious mash up of King Kong and the Simpsons.
Imagine if the head outside was Homer's!

  4. I was initially encouraged. Now it looks too manufactured i.e. stamped patterned concrete. Part of the reason might be the sameness of the shape and size of the 'rocks' and the overall evenness of the lines. Granted I'm just looking at the pictures, but if we're not supposed to form impressions of what we see in them.... then we don't need the pictures.

Night will certainly be the best time to be in the area, going to be fine overall.

  5. The ride is not themed to the movies, it is its own story. I for one can't wait.

It's supposed to look manufactured. Who do you think built it in the story? Kong?? The islanders built it.

Are you the same person that was complaining about this a couple months ago?

FYI, ancient pyramids have rocks of the exact same size.

  8. The rock work is hand sculpted and some of the best in Orlando. Once all the paint detail and moss gets added you'll see how impressive it is!
