SeaWorld Orlando awarded 13 extraordinary students, who have a passion for protecting and preserving the environment, with $1,000 scholarships to use at any college or university that they plan on attending as part of the company’s Environmental Scholarship Program. The students received their scholarships at SeaWorld Orlando during an awards ceremony which took place Friday at noon.
The scholarship was offered to high school seniors in Orange County Schools.

The winning students (who have a 3.0 GPA or higher) demonstrated their passion for animals and the environment through a written application and a short video highlighting their environmental achievements and goals. Entries included sustainability plans for communities, education programs for recycling and ideas for new forms of sustainable energy.

The applications were evaluated by representatives of SeaWorld’s Education & Conservation Department. Judges considered originality, creativity, content,   organization, neatness and the general presentation of the application.

After the ceremony, the students and their families were treated to lunch with members of the SeaWorld education and zoological team, the students were then invited to enjoy the remainder of their day in the park and catch a showing of Clyde & Seamore’s Sea Lion High. The scholarship recipients also received four SeaWorld Orlando Annual Passes and a brand-new tablet for their achievement.
