Harambe Market Opens at Animal Kingdom (PHOTOS)

The fictional village of Harambe has expanded once again at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park thanks to the opening of the beautiful Harambe Market.
This highly-themed new area offers a wide variety of food and beverage options that will surely satisfy the cravings of the many Guests that will pass by the area. Even if you are not hungry, the details seen around this new section of the park will keep you busy for some time. Let's explore this great marketplace together:

First of all, we have to admit that the pathways leading to the area are not as large as we thought. This could be seen as a negative aspect of this expansion, but it actually helps in keeping Animal Kingdom from becoming a "concrete jungle." These quaint pathways surrounded by trees contribute to its beauty:

A small section of the market is still behind walls:

The rest of the area seems to have been here since the opening of the park. It's very well done:

Time to enter inside the heart of the Harambe Market:

The market is divided into separate areas where Guests can line up to order food and then pick it up in a separate window. This helps to keep lines reasonably short and serve Guests more efficiently:

What do you think about this new area of Disney's Animal Kingdom? Do you like the fact that more new eateries continue to be added to the park, or are you afraid that Animal Kingdom will soon become too food-oriented like Epcot (where the restaurants and dining locations outnumber the attractions)? Be sure to let us know by leaving a comment at the end of this update. We love hearing your opinions!

  1. This expansion is beautiful. So life like. DisneySea-Quality here (as were most of Florida's recent additions). I was not expecting this but rather something more like Sunset Ranch at DHS. Job well done.

It would have been nice to get another attraction. I couldn't imagine what Imagineering could come up with if they expanded the Harambe storyline into an original attraction.

For the time being I don't mind the restaurant but I hope we will soon get something more.

  2. Next on the checklist: Re-Imagine Dino-Land.

  3. Looks beautiful!

Completely agree that Dino-Land needs a complete makeover, especially the carnival game area.

I also wonder if they'll ever build a large E-Ticket attraction in the area they used as a staging area when they build Expedition Everest. If you look at a satellite view on Google Maps, you can see the big area. It may require reconfiguring the train, but it could hold a HUGE attraction within the park boundry.
