The Food & Beverage Concept Development team at the Walt Disney World Resort was excited to break ground on a new research and development facility.
This state-of-the-art building, located near Disney's Port Orleans Resort, will provide the perfect place to create new and unique concepts. The facility will serve as a hub of new product, packaging and equipment innovation for both culinary and beverage programs across Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

From product testing to food photography, the space will serve as a laboratory to advance the Food & Beverage portfolio and drive key business strategies.

Jean-Marie Clement, director, Food & Beverage Concept Development, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts shared that this new facility will, "provide a professional, creative and collaborative workspace for sharing and showcasing new ideas, concepts and best practices."

This kitchen is designed with the flexibility to test new equipment in and out from vendors and will provide an environment that will significantly increase the opportunities for innovation in both food and beverage concepts that exist today and new concepts of tomorrow. The Food & Beverage Concept Development facility is slated to open August 2015.

  1. August 2015? It's only going to take them 3-4 months to build that thing? Guess dragged-out anticipation isn't much of a factor here as it is with attractions. Granted the comparison is apples to oranges, but still.

  2. I was thinking the same thing. It's takes 18 months to build a parking garage, but a state of the art laboratory goes up in a few months. Something doesn't add up there...on either one. Maybe it's a typo.

  3. Well as it will be away from guests areas it won't be themed. A warehouse could easily be build in a month and maybe 2 months to do the inside.
