Animal Kingdom Update: Africa Keeps Growing (PART 2)

Welcome to part 2 of our newest Disney's Animal Kingdom photo-report. As always, we invite you to check out PART 1 of this update before proceeding.

Let's now continue to check out this gorgeous park, focusing on Africa (including Harambe), Asia (including Anandapur), and DinoLand U.S.A. Enjoy:

  1. Hi, great update, everything looking good, a bit obstructed here and there, or should I say, everywhere? I was wondering how long will the temporary walls of rivers of light remain, I know the show won´t be ready till next year, but will the infrastructure (the river banks) be ready any time soon?

  3. I doubt the viewing areas for Rivers of Light will be ready anytime soon. It seems, based on the way they have built up the land, that they are going for a World of Color style viewing area that gets the guest right up to the waters edge without going higher than the standard park pathway. While this style of viewing area is not the greatest because they STRICTLY enforce no sitting and have to close the viewing area 2+ hours before showtime to clear it out before letting guests in to view the show, it does allow them enough space to pack it full of people without ruining the awesome sight lines of Everest.

I see this show being "World of Color 2.0". For those that have not had the pleasure of seeing World of Color in person, the experience is breath taking and, in my opinion, the best show (daytime and nighttime) Disney has ever created (yes, even better than Fantasmic). There is something so magical and awe-inspiring about what they were able to pull off with water jets and projectors. I see them taking the framework of the show (including the viewing area) and adding to it. Also, remove some things that didn't quite work out (the quick rising "globe" screens for example) while adding in new features that they wish they could have with World of Color.

My only fear is that is becomes to animal focused. Yes, it is the Animal Kingdom, but the park is really lacking in "Disney" elements. They have a chance to create a Disney heavy, character driven show like World of Color but just focus on the animal characters. If they don't include the Lion King segment from the current World of Color I will be highly disappointed. No mater how many times I see it, I still get chills.
