Overview of Magic Kingdom's Expanded Hub (PART 2)

Welcome to part 2 of this new Magic Kingdom hub photo-gallery. As always, make sure to take a look at PART 1 of this update before proceeding.
In the previous part, we walked around the west side of the hub (under the rain!) and we enjoyed the new flowers, plants, statues, and fountains that can be found in this great area of the park. Let's now continue to take a look around, focusing on the east side of the hub as well as the central plaza:

We are still checking out the EAST side of the hub:

The size of some parts of the new walkways is astounding:

The East FastPass+ Fireworks Viewing area:

The incorrect sign has been removed:

A few more photos around the east side:

The expanded outdoor seating area of the nearby Ice Cream Parlor:

The bridge:

The sea dragon topiary was able to survive:

Work continues around the central plaza of the park:

Many of the larger trees formerly seen on the left side of Cinderella Castle have been replaced:

The new trees and bushes that were recently planted in this same area are much smaller:

And that is all for now. Before concluding, remember to like us on our official Facebook page and follow us on Twitter for live updates from the parks. Thank you for your support, and see you again real soon!

  1. Aside from the light poles that are in desperate need of some large hanging flowers to offset the obnoxious speakers, everything looks great! They really picked up the pace these past few weeks.

Also, the larger photos are EXCELLENT!

  3. Do you know when the walls in front of the castle will be removed? And the crane?

  4. Anonymous, the crane behind Cinderella Castle is currently scheduled to be removed on March 12, 2015 (http://www.orlandoparksnews.com/2015/02/crane-behind-cinderella-castle-to.html).

Regarding the walls around the hub, unfortunately we do not have a clear timeline. That being said, the expansion of the park's hub is expected to be completed by fall 2015.

  6. I was just there this past weekend, and we arrived for a late night at MK and the Electrical Parade was going on, so for my first time in the newly opened parts of the hub, it was a bit confusing as it was so dark, but once we finished and were on the way back out, it was absolutely beautiful, for the first time I can think of, I spent time in the hub looking at details and taking it all in. They have done a fantastic job adding this much needed space, while still balancing the detail needed to be "Disney" Can't wait to see it during the day!

  8. Correction: The crane behind the Castle is expected to be up THROUGH March 12th. Thus, the crane should be gone by Friday, March 13th, and NOT March 12th.

  10. Once again another superb update... thanks guys as you really do provide the best and most comprehensive collections of photos that really gives a full picture to us who live far away.

Sad to see the proper bridge has gone as it doesn't feel like a proper moat anymore (and no chance of the boats returning)... always made MK's hub feel special to me compared to the other parks. DLP is a stunning designed park.. but the hub feels bare and lifeless without the moat and vegetation that MK has. Can you actually see the pipes from the walkways?... (killing the illusion)
