Jim Parsons Meets His New Figure for Madame Tussauds

Emmy and Golden Globe Award winning actor and Hollywood Walk of Fame honoree Jim Parsons unveiled his brand new wax figure for Madame Tussauds Orlando. Parsons’ friends and family members joined him for the reveal in Hollywood. The figure will eventually make its way to Orlando, Florida.
Modeled in a seated position, the wax figure is posed for a behind-the-scenes setting in a TV production studio. Parsons donated clothing for the figure.

It all started with… more than 250 measurements. The actor met with Madame Tussauds artists in Los Angeles in July 2014 to take the facial and body measurements and was very involved in the entire process by working with the artists to select the pose and facial expression. Over 150 measurements were taken to perfectly replicate the figure’s head, which weighs 9.9 pounds, or as much a human head.

“Every detail on this figure is incredibly accurate and precise,” said Parsons. “From the color of the eyes to the facial features, you can tell how hard the artists and sculptors work to achieve such a realistic portrayal.”

Parsons, a four-time Emmy winner, Golden Globe Award winner and SAG nominee, has been celebrated for his critically acclaimed works on both the screen and stage throughout his acting career, and is beloved for his role as TV’s favorite theoretical physicist Sheldon Cooper on the hit show, "The Big Bang Theory" presently in its 8th season, airing Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS and five nights a week in syndication.

On the big screen, Parsons will play the lead voice in “HOME,” a DreamWorks Animation adaption of the award-winning book The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex, co-starring singer and actress Rihanna, hitting theaters March 27. This summer, he will return to Broadway in the original comedy “An Act of God” opening May 27.

Madame Tussauds is world-renowned for the creation of detailed and lifelike wax figures that pay homage to A-list celebrities from film and television, sports icons, musicians from all genres, and notable figures from history and pop culture.

Each Madame Tussauds figure is truly a work of art, involving teams of professional artists and sculptors who spend months on extensive research and taking more than 200 measurements to recreate world-famous icons, to achieve the kind of astonishing realism that has been at the heart of the 250-year Madame Tussauds legacy.

Guests at Madame Tussauds Orlando will experience a brand new, immersive and interactive wax experience, bursting with family fun and world-class entertainment, as they move through themed areas meeting all of their favorite stars from award-winning film actors, to historical and modern world leaders, sports stars, music legends as well as figures important to Florida.

All visitors can shake hands with the president, get on stage with rock stars and pop princesses, or get up close and personal with a Hollywood heartthrob and take the ultimate selfie!
