Magic Kingdom Hub Update: Welcoming Spring (PART 1)

One of the many things that most Guests love seeing when visiting the area's theme parks is not man-made. In fact, the plants and flowers that can be found all around the various themed areas make a big difference, as they greatly enhance the overall Guest experience. This also applies to the expanded hub of the Magic Kingdom Park, as it is already receiving many new trees (albeit not too mature) as well as flowers, topiaries, and more. Enjoy the views:

As we walked toward the hub, we noticed that work is still being done around Main Street U.S.A.:

The WEST SIDE of the hub:

Turf was recently installed in the future West FastPass+ Viewing Area:

It looks good:

The new railings have finally been installed on the faux bridge:

Some of the new trees and flowers recently planted in the area:

These walkways will open soon:

  1. Am I the only one who thinks the lights with the speakers build in them are the most ugly designed lamps I've ever seen.

  2. I think it all looks pretty atrocious.

  3. You're not alone, they are hideous, but maybe they were the least evil of the designs presented to them to use.

As for the new topography... It's still a little difficult to envision what this will look like when it's done with all the orange construction equipment strewn about, but I'm not liking the view from side to side (far too many of those tall brown speaker poles, and I doubt they'll add any trees to break it up)

The view is nice looking back toward Crystal palace.

  4. Another issue with all these new lights and speakers is that they will block the view of the castle and the fireworks, the whole reason everyone is standing there (think the stupid light towers at World of Color). They would have had to install more, but they if they'd installed the speakers and lighting at ground level the appearance would have been better and they wouldnt block the show.

  5. Anything they can do to cram some more families into the park.

  6. "but they if they'd installed the speakers and lighting at ground level" Um anonymous you do realize if lights were installed at ground level and people were standing around them then there would be no light? and if speakers were installed at ground level and people were standing around them then they would block out the sound due to not all sound waves being Omni directional. Please wait till its done to throw stones...

  7. I think it looks great! All those haters out there don't understand how a company works...this isn't a royal garden...it's a theme park that hosts millions of people each year. Be thankful that Disney actually is investing in the parks infrastructure, not just paving and showing that as a new fireworks viewing area. If you want to complain, look at Six Flags.

  8. It's not done yet. We really can't say if it looks great or awful yet. I'm sure the former will be true, but please don't accuse any of us as haters. We wouldn't be on here messaging if we didn't love the company and expect the best from the one company in the world who's been able to produce some amazing things.

  9. Wow, only took eight comments to get to the "we-complain-because-we-like-Disney-so-much" assertion to appear. That could be a new record!

  10. I really don't see how the speakers are so terrible looking...

  11. The speakers will look fine if they put some flowers hanging next to them. Not sure if that's the plan.

  12. Adding flowers would just block more of the castle. This is really the best they could do to make the castle viewable for a LOT more guests. And if the turf has padding under it, it will be a HUGE improvement over just sitting on concrete.

Is this perfect? No, but it will allow a whole lot more people to see the castle projections, and fireworks over the castle. And in theory should allow you to do so without staking out a spot 2 hours in advance.

  13. This reminds me of a miniature golf course, especially with the artificial turf, and not in a good way. I'm hoping the final results will look better.
