Kongstruction Update: Massive Facade Taking Shape

Work on the "mysterious" new area currently under construction at Islands of Adventure continues at an amazingly fast pace. Due to the fact that no formal announcement has been made by the Universal Orlando Resort, we should still not call this a King Kong themed area; however, our Readers will surely have no more doubts about the theme of this new section of the park after seeing the following photos, as the facade of the building is looking very familiar...

Welcome to Universal's Islands of Adventure:

Some very large cranes are visible even before entering the park. We originally thought they were being used as part of the King Kong project, but we later discovered these are being used in the future location of Universal's Sapphire Falls Resort, being built right next to Islands of Adventure:

Let's start with some photos of the massive facade (taken from Toon Lagoon):

The rockwork is taking shape fairly quickly:

Inside Jurassic Park:

Some behind-the-walls photos (taken - as always - from Guest areas ONLY):

The massive entrance of the temple:

Some photos taken from Camp Jurassic:

A closer look at the building:

Multiple pipes can be seen inside the building:

After leaving for a few hours, we decided to return to the area to take a few more photos:

The above photo might help our Readers to understand just how gigantic this building is.

A few more photos of the construction area:

This is it for now. Remember to like us on our official Facebook page and follow us on Twitter for live updates from the parks. As always, thank you for your support, and see you again real soon!

  1. I wonder if the area will have an additional entrance from Toon Lagoon.
Seems like that gate is all that stands between it.

  3. April 2016 might be more realistic if they move at Transformers speed but this ride isn't a copy by the looks of it.

  4. Anyone else notice there is a dirt floor inside? Do they pave that later? No way the inside will be dirt.

    1. Thanks lee. Makes it incredibly difficult to figure out the kind of track system they're going to use! Hope it's something we haven't seen before.
