Universal: Beijing Representatives Visit Universal Orlando

Even though we rarely post news about theme parks, attractions, and rumors that do not involve the Central Florida area, today we would like to share with you information regarding a possible new Asian theme park project. Our Universal Orlando source is telling us that some important people visited the Universal theme parks in Orlando just a few months ago, and that they were coming from Beijing, where there are currently no Universal parks.

Here is the rumor (which does NOT originate from Orlando Theme Park News, but from our source):
Over the course of the the past 5-6 months, representatives from Beijing have been visiting the Universal Orlando Resort. These visits have not been sightseeing tours, but "development" visits to observe every aspect of our day to day operations. It's no secret that Universal is looking into expanding into the Asian market. Hints at a Beijing Universal project has been no secret either. This just gives more concrete evidence that Universal Beijing will become a reality...
As you can see, even more new theme parks may be opening in the Asian market. Keep in mind that the Walt Disney Company is also in the process of opening a new theme park in Shanghai. Beijing is located about 2 hours north of Shanghai via airplane (about 14 hours by car). Could this be Universal's response to Disney? We'll have to wait and see if this rumored project will come to life.
