New On-Ride Video Available at the Tower of Terror

Disney launched a new attraction video that is sure to surprise and delight Guests using Memory Maker. When Guests with a MagicBand and an active Memory Maker entitlement ride The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios, they will find a video memento of their 13-story drop automatically associated to their My Disney Experience account. Guests with a Memory Maker entitlement also will be able to view the videos of other linked accounts.

Here you are some frequently asked questions about this new service:

When is the change going into effect?
Beginning Tuesday, August 12, 2014, the Attraction Video at the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ will be automatically associated to the My Disney Experience account of Guests who have both a MagicBand and a linked Memory Maker entitlement.

When will the Walt Disney World Resort offer Attraction videos to other Guests?
At this time, there are no immediate plans to offer Attraction videos to any other Guests, but they will continue to evaluate our operational processes to ensure that they are offering a great experience for all Guests visiting their parks and attractions.

What if a Guest has a MagicBand but does not have a linked Memory Maker entitlement? Will their Attraction video still be associated to their My Disney Experience account?
At this time, only Guests with a linked Memory Maker entitlement and a MagicBand will be able to view and download their Attraction video via their My Disney Experience account. A Guest with a MagicBand who wishes to view and download their Attraction video may still purchase Memory Maker after riding the attraction to receive their video.

A Guest with a Memory Maker entitlement experienced The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™, and then purchased a MagicBand, can they still receive their video?
No, Guests must be wearing a MagicBand while experiencing the Attraction in order for the Attraction video to be associated to the Guests. Further, only Guests with a linked Memory Maker entitlement will be able to view and download Attraction videos of themselves and videos of their linked Family & Friends Connections and Managed Guests that were wearing MagicBands while experiencing the Attraction.

When will the Attraction video be associated to the Guest’s My Disney Experience account?
Due to moderation and system processes, all digital content could take up to 24 hours to become viewable within the Guest’s My Disney Experience account. If a Guest still does not see their video after 24 hours of experiencing the Attraction, they can contact the Disney PhotoPass Guest Support Team at 407-560-4300.

Family and Friends – How are Attraction videos associated to Guests with Family and Friends Connections?
Guests with a linked Memory Maker entitlement who have active Family and Friends Connections via their My Disney Experience account will be able to view all Attraction videos which are captured automatically if the linked Family and Friends Connections were wearing a MagicBand while experiencing the Attraction. However, only Memory Maker Guests will have access to view and download the video.

Are Attraction videos viewable on the My Disney Experience mobile app?
At this time, Disney PhotoPass photo or digital are not viewable within the My Disney Experience app. We hope to offer this feature as an added enhancement for our Guests in the future.

  1. Does it work if you have the card instead of the wrist band ?

  2. My understanding is the bands are active RFID, meaning there is a battery which allows it to be powered up at all times and receive over the air signals, while the ticket media is passive RFID meaning it must physically touch an object to be active. Based on this, the cards will not function and you'll have to have a magic band with you. You probably don't have to wear it, likely just having it on your person or bag will be enough to receive the signal.
