Aulani & Disney Cruise Line Receive Travel + Leisure Award

Disney Cruise Line and Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, earned top distinctions in the 'Travel + Leisure' World’s Best Awards 2014. Disney Cruise Line was named Top Mega-Ship Cruise Line and Top Mega-Ship Cruise Line for Families by Travel + Leisure readers in the magazine’s World’s Best Awards 2014. This is the first time Disney Cruise Line has received the Top Mega-Ship Cruise Line award and the sixth consecutive year it has been recognized as a top cruise line for families.

“We are honored once again to be recognized as the ‘World’s Best’ for families by the readers of Travel + Leisure,” said Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line. “This year is extra special because of the additional honor of Top Mega-Ship Cruise Line. These awards really speak to what Disney Cruise Line is all about – creating magical memories for Guests of all ages onboard our ships and taking them to fantastic destinations around the world.”

Disney Cruise Line pioneered the family market in the cruise industry, providing a unique vacation experience where families can reconnect, adults can recharge and children can experience all Disney has to offer. Today, Disney Cruise Line continues to expand its blueprint for family cruising with a fleet of four ships – the Disney Magic, Disney Wonder, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Guests can sail out of ports around the world on exciting itineraries to the Caribbean, Bahamas, Hawaii, Alaska and Europe, among others.

On land, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa, was named the Top Hotel for Families in the United States. That’s no surprise given how many families continue to tell us how much they love this beautiful Disney resort in HawaiÊ»i.

Aulani combines the beauty and spirit of the Hawaiian Islands with the magic of Disney storytelling and guest service to create unforgettable family vacation experiences. Included in the family-designed resort is the one-of-a-kind Waikolohe Valley, Aulani's seven-acre water play area. The overall landscape mimics the flow of a watershed as it moves from the mountain to the ocean.  In keeping with the theme of the resort, Disney integrated Hawaiian culture, stories and artistry into the design of the new pool area and restaurant location.

For children, there’s the cozy world of Aunty’s Beach House, a signature Disney kids’ club.  Younger guests learn the hula, create Hawaiian arts and crafts, play games with favorite Disney characters and enjoy a laid-back movie afternoon when it “rains.” Aunty’s Beach House is designed for children ages 3 to 12. Special tween programs also are offered through Aunty’s Beach House. Aulani also features a relaxing beach, the award-winning 18,000 square foot Laniwai spa, and an actual snorkeling experience at Rainbow Reef, the resort’s authentic on-site snorkeling lagoon.

With just the right amount of Disney magic sprinkled throughout, Aulani Guests encounter a vacation paradise uniquely designed for families. Hotel rooms and Disney Vacation Club villas have been thoughtfully planned to cater to the needs of a family vacation, with refrigerators, flat panel televisions and wireless Internet access.
