Wet ‘n Wild Opening Aqua Drag Racer on June 12, 2014

Wet ‘n Wild Orlando invites local families to help kick off the summer with the grand opening of its newest attraction, the Aqua Drag Racer on Thursday, June 12, 2014. Standing six stories tall and featuring four parallel racing lanes, the Aqua Drag Racer is Florida’s tallest and fastest water-based racing attraction of its kind. Guests will take their place at a starting line that is 65 feet high and prepare for a turbo-charged adrenaline rush the whole family can share.

Donald Duck Meet-And-Greet Change at Animal Kingdom

Looking forward to meet the "World's Number 1 Duck" at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park? Then, you should be aware that beginning tomorrow (Sunday, June 1, 2014), Donald Duck will no longer join Daisy Duck at Character Landing on Discovery Island. Guests can continue to meet Daisy at the location. Donald can be found on the Cretaceous Trail in DinoLand U.S.A. We invite you to always check the park's Times Guide for set times, as they change daily.

The PolerCoaster is Coming to Orlando With a New Name

The infamous PolerCoaster project is back on the table for the Central Florida area. After months of speculations, rumors, and vague news, it looks like we can finally say that this imaginative attraction is indeed coming to Orlando. Wesh 2 News was able to find a possible location where this new roller coaster might be built, but there's more. In fact, Screamscape was able to find an interesting website about a new entertainment area on I-Drive that will include the "world's tallest roller coaster."

Celebrate World Oceans Day at Epcot on June 8, 2014

New Harambe Theater Opening June 1 at Animal Kingdom

Beginning Sunday, June 1, 2014 Guests will be able to enter inside the new Harambe Theatre for the very first Guest-viewing of  the beloved Festival of the Lion King show since its relocation from Camp Minnie-Mickey back in January of this year. The new theater, and entire additional section of Africa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, is sure to be a highlight for Guests visiting the park as it fits the atmosphere of Harambe perfectly. 

Escape to the Tropics at Royal Pacific’s Wantilan Luau

Every Tuesday and Saturday now through Labor Day, savor the exotic tastes of the South Pacific and enjoy a musical journey through the Polynesian islands at Loews Royal Pacific Resort's Wantilan Luau. Hula and fire dancers delight the audience and entice a few to even learn the hula... it’s great fun for the entire family! The menu features pit-roasted suckling pig, guava BBQ short ribs, whole roasted South Pacific Wahoo, tropical fruits and desserts, plus special items for the kids.

Downtown Disney: New Starbucks Open, Artwork Released

The West Side area of Downtown Disney just welcomed another new business. In fact, the official Twitter account of Downtown Disney posted the following: "NOW OPEN! We couldn't be more excited to welcome @Starbucks to Downtown Disney West Side!" This large Starbucks is located right next to Characters in Flight, and it has a very interesting look, including grass on the roof (how will they mow it?). Here's a photo of this new location:

Reminder: Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade Closing Soon

As a reminder, Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade will have its final performance Saturday, May 31 at 3:45 p.m. The parade started its run at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park on October 1, 2001 as part of the "100 Years of Magic" celebration at the Walt Disney World Resort. Since then, the parade has performed nearly 4,500 shows. We really appreciate all who have been a part of this parade over the last 13 years for their hard work and for creating memories. 

Coronado Springs Resort: More Pepper Market Changes

Beginning June 1, 2014, the Pepper Market at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will undergo refurbishment, which will include the removal of the Mexican food station (food from the station being removed will be relocated to surrounding stations). This will create space to relocate the cash registers closer to where food is ordered and assist with Guest flow. This phase of the Pepper Market refurbishment is scheduled to be complete in about a month.

LEGOLAND Team Attending "KidsFest" Event in Georgia

LEGO KidsFest brings its one-of-a-kind, interactive experience for five identical sessions during the weekend of June 27 – 29 at Atlanta’s Cobb Galleria Centre. The award-winning LEGO KidsFest is a traveling extravaganza featuring three acres and dozens of hands-on building, creative experiences and one-of-a-kind activities. Children of all ages and builders of all skills and levels are welcome. The show only makes seven North American appearances each year.

New Animal Kingdom Park Map Welcomes the Lion King

New guidemaps for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park will be in circulation around the Walt Disney World Resort starting from Sunday, June 1, 2014. Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade has been removed from the map with its last performance on May 31, 2014. The new Harambe Theater has been added to the Africa section of the map, being the new home to the ever popular “Festival of the Lion King” show, rumored to be opening on June 1, 2014.

Busch Gardens: The Reason Behind Falcon's Fury Delay

Busch Gardens Tampa released today a statement about the progress of the park's newest thrill ride, Falcon’s Fury (the attraction was scheduled to open May 1):

"Due to a delay in the fabrication of key component parts for Falcon's Fury, neither the manufacturer nor Busch Gardens are able to complete the lengthy testing processes needed to open the ride to the public.

Magic Kingdom Park Map: New Fantasyland is Complete

The new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train officially opens in just a few minutes at the Magic Kingdom Park. Many will still not be able to believe this, especially since it feels like that attraction has been under construction for too long. That said, this is the day we were all waiting for, so you should be glad! To prepare for it, take a look at the newest Magic Kingdom Park map, which is available at the park starting today and shows - for the first time ever - the completed New Fantasyland area:

Festival of the Lion King Cast Previews Begin Soon

Are you a fan of the Festival of the Lion King show? If you are, you'll be happy to know that Disney’s Animal Kingdom Cast Members will be able to get a sneak preview of the Festival of The Lion King in the brand-new Harambe Theatre on May 30, 2014 at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Of course, photos and videos of the show will not be allowed, so don't expect to see any of them floating around on that day. This event is open only to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Cast Members.

New MagicBand Sales Locations Around Walt Disney World

If you are thinking about purchasing a MagicBands while visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, you should note that they are now available for purchase at additional locations, including stores at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin hotels, eight Hotel Plaza Boulevard hotels, Disney’s Earport and The Magic of Disney at Orlando International Airport, and the two Character Warehouse locations (Orlando Premium Outlets on Vineland Avenue and International Drive).

Disney Water Parks & Golf Courses Temporarily Closed

Please be advised that Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park, Disney's Blizzard Beach water park, and Disney's Miniature Golf Courses are temporarily closed due to inclement weather. In addition to that, all the outdoor attractions located throughout the theme parks are currently closed. They will reopen when it will be safe to do so. Remember to continue checking here on Orlando Theme Park News for any additional updates. UPDATE: Typhoon Lagoon has reopened.

Adventure Island Water Park Currently Closed for Capacity

If you are heading to the Tampa area in the next few hours, make sure to take note of the fact that Adventure Island (Busch Gardens' water park, located across the street from the theme park) is currently closed due to capacity according to their official Twitter account. The park is expected reopen to new guests at 3:00 p.m. today. As always, we recommend you check back here on Orlando Theme Park News for more advisories throughout the day. UPDATE: The Park is open again.

Friar's Nook Now Open for Breakfast at Magic Kingdom

The Friar's Nook, a seasonal quick-service restaurant located in the Fantasyland area of the Magic Kingdom Park, will start serving breakfast at park open (8 a.m. on days with Extra Magic Hours in the morning). Menu offerings include French toast sticks and a Breakfast Sausage Dog (two links of sausage, scrambled eggs, topped with cheese and bacon all on a hot dog bun). Breakfast will be served until 11 a.m., before switching to the lunch menu.

I-Drive 360 Update: Focusing on the Landscape (PART 1)

United World Soccer Now Open at Downtown Disney

Just in time for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil broadcast by ESPN, the United World Soccer store opened May 22, 2014 at Downtown Disney West Side, right next to Disney’s Candy Cauldron. For a limited time, this store offers a variety of merchandise especially for soccer fans – they can purchase their favorite team jerseys, sports gear, and World Cup apparel and accessories. The store will be replaced again in the future with new offerings. We will keep you updated.

Epcot: Major Work Coming Soon to the Rose Walk

Beginning this week, routine maintenance will be taking place just north of the rose walk (near the Innoventions West and Club Cool area). Due to the nature of the work, construction equipment will be operating during the daytime; however every effort will be taken to ensure minimal disruption to the Guest experience. This work is anticipated to be complete by the end of the summer. The pathway connecting the rose walk to the Fountain Plaza will not be accessible during this time.

Universal Studios Florida: A Dragon Descends Into the Park

Earlier today, a limited amount of park-goers witnessed the arrival of a very unusual creature; an amazing animal that was "flying" above the skies of Universal Studios Florida. It was a gigantic, wingless dragon that was heading to the new London themed area of the park, currently still under construction. DUPLO Valley Officially Opens at LEGOLAND Florida

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — LEGOLAND® Florida celebrated the opening of its newest expansion, DUPLO Valley on Thursday, May 22, 2014.

DUPLO Valley brings the LEGO DUPLO line of preschool building toys to life with new farm-themed attractions, an air-conditioned indoor play area and a water play area all geared to toddlers ages 2 to 5.

SeaWorld Orlando Launches Enhanced Mobile App

Orlando, Fla., (May 23, 2014) –Want to know how to get from Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin over to TurtleTrek or find out show times for Blue Horizons? Do you remember where that restroom was that you passed a while ago? Exciting, new enhancements to SeaWorld Orlando’s popular park mobile app, available for iPhone and Android devices, was announced earlier this week, with interactive park maps and locations featuring GPS navigation.

Rock Your Disney Side: LIVE FEED From Magic Kingdom

The 24-hour event is now in full swing at the Magic Kingdom Park. Guests have already entered the park (at 6:00 a.m.), and they have already enjoyed many of the attractions (including the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, which is rumored to be open all day today). Roadwork Begins Near Disney's Old Key West Resort

In order to meet the current and future needs of the Downtown Disney Area, surrounding roadways are going to be widened from seven to ten lanes with dedicated bus lanes. The first phase of this roadwork involves removing the medians on Buena Vista Drive, near Disney's Old Key West Resort. This work is scheduled for nighttime hours to avoid lane closures and minimize traffic impacts. However, there could be some noise associated with the nighttime construction.

Rock Your Disney Side - COMPLETE EVENT GUIDE

Magic Kingdom Park will open for 24 hours nonstop between May 23 and 24, as Disney Parks welcome summer on both coasts with a one-of-a-kind event, "Rock Your Disney Side: 24-Hours." This event includes special "heroes and villains" themed entertainment and offerings, and Guests are invited to dress as their favorite Disney character. To prepare our Readers for this special occasion, we put together online event guide. We hope you will be able to be in attendance!:

SeaWorld Rescues Injured Manatee from Indian River

(May 21, 2014) Orlando, Fla. – The SeaWorld Animal Rescue Team rescued an injured manatee from the Indian River in Port St. John, Fla., near the FPL power plant. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) spotted the injured manatee last Wednesday (May 14, 2014) and had been monitoring it closely. FWC noticed that the manatee was not submerging under water and appeared to suffer from a watercraft hit.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Soft-Opening TODAY (May 21)

According to some reports (including a tweet from @DMailNews), the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is now officially holding soft-openings. The ride opened to Guests at the Magic Kingdom Park just a few minutes ago, and is currently allowing Guests into the interactive queue line and the ride itself (note that the ride may close at any give time during soft-openings). If you are currently visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, why not taking advantage of this opportunity to check out this new attraction?

Fun Spot Attractions Launch Redesigned Website

In the past few days, the official website for Fun Spot Attractions has been unavailable. The reason behind this? The entire website has been redesigned, and a few new tools have been introduced, like a LIVE weather webcam (coming soon), clearer park maps, a Fun Spot news section, a jobs section, new in-park deals, and more. Click here to explore Fun Spot's website. In addition to that, Fun Spot USA officially changed name. It is now Fun Spot America - Kissimmee.

Wilderness Lodge: Roaring Fork Tests New Style of Service

At Roaring Fork (a quick-service restaurant located at Disney's Wilderness Lodge), a new style of service - called fast casual - is currently being tested. The test started Tuesday, May 20, and only takes place during lunch hours. In this test, Guests order from the counter and are given a number. They can then go to the register to pay and find a table. Once their food is ready, it will be brought out to them, hot and fresh. This allows Guests to spend more time together and less time waiting in line.

Oak Trail Golf Course Refurbishment May 21-June 4

Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course (located at the Walt Disney World Resort) will temporarily close for renovations from May 21 until June 4, 2014. Beginning June 5, tee times will be available. Guests are encouraged to book reservations by calling 407-WDW-GOLF (407-939-4653). Also, Guests with a Water Park Fun & More Option may use it at other Disney golf course locations. This pass offers an 18-hole option and is available during normal operating hours.

Disney's Polynesian Resort Expansion Update (May 2014)

SeaWorld Parks Launch Enhanced Mobile Apps

Orlando, Fla. – SeaWorld Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE: SEAS) announced new enhancements to its popular park mobile apps, available for iPhone and Android devices on Monday, May 19, 2014. The SeaWorld, Busch Gardens and Sesame Place Discovery Guide mobile apps offer new features for a more personalized and interactive experience during a park visit, and can be downloaded free from the Apple or Google Play app stores.
