Yet Another FastPass+ Test at WDW (August 2013)

The Walt Disney World Resort is testing once again some of the MyMagic+ offerings, including FASTPASS+. Here you are additional information regarding the upcoming test, which will start on August 2:

MyMagic+ testing expands this week with additional resort Guests joining August 2, 2013. These Guests will be participating in all aspects of the MyMagic+ experience. For any Guests who need more assistance, Guest Relations Cast Members will be available at select attractions as well as the MyMagic+ Service Center at each one of the parks. Guest self-service FastPass+ Kiosks for same-day FastPass+ modifications or additions can also be found throughout the Walt Disney World theme parks.

In addition to that, as part of the test and adjust process for MyMagic+, more experiences will be available to test participants starting today (July 28, 2013). For example, at the Magic Kingdom Park, the following attractions have joined the FastPass+ lineup: Ariel’s Grotto, “it’s a small world,” Mad Tea Party, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor and Tomorrowland Speedway. Also available Fridays-Sundays during August are the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade, Main Street Electrical Parade and Wishes nighttime spectacular.

As a reminder, Guests who are testing MyMagic+ can select THREE FastPass+ experiences at one park per day.

According to some sources, these tests will continue throughout the rest of the year, and new Disney Hotels will be added during each test. The Walt Disney World Resort is said to be using this system to avoid overloading this new system with too many requests (including FastPass+, restaurant reservations, etc...) all at once. Once all the Disney Hotels will be included, tests will conclude, and MyMagic+ will be officially rolled out. That being said, do you think this new system will work and truly improve the Guest experience, or will it prove to be a colossal waste of money? Share your comments! We would love to hear your personal opinions on this matter.

  1. Well I have been trying for several days now to make just some dining reservations for our upcoming trip and their website keeps giving me an error. If they can't even keep the ADR's working then I have no hope for mymagic+.

  2. My guess is a waste of money. Guest want new attractions and new things to experience. While this may be a good idea for trip planning it seems like Disney's computer systems are always crashing. Look how much the website is down or the res center is down. With this all being computer based it just sounds like a mess. Would have loved to see this huge investment put into the parks and resorts

  4. I am staying at Pop starting August 18th and was included in the test. I am an extreme planner when it comes to WDW but the system is giving me a headache. You cannot choose fast pass times. You tell them what three rides you want and then it gives you 4 preselected times for those rides. You just have to choose the one that best fits your touring plan. Once you have that set you try and move them around to better match your touring plan. You can change the times and the ride choice. For example at MK they gave me a bonus of pirates. Who needs a fast pass for pirates so I switched it to space mountain. One problem now is that when you are moving around times the fast passes cannot overlap so say I wanna just swap tower of terror for toy story because I plan on being on that side of the park? Can't do it. You have to shift things around which isn't hard because no ones on the system yet but when it's fully rolled out its gonna be a nightmare. We will see how it goes when I'm on site and actually using the fast passes how well they work and fit into my plan but rite now it's more stressful than anything else.

  5. Disney is making my choice where to go to on my next trip in November to Orlando very easy.
Lets take a look, selling my personal info for a overly structured vacation and no new stuff that tickles my fancy or a combo ticket for Sea World and Universal Orlando with mayor rides I haven't been on like Despicable me, Transformers, Simpsons mini land, a parade, a new night time show and Antarctica. With Holiday festivities surpassing anything Disney is offering and no silly wristbands.

  6. I'd still rather pay nothing for paper Fastpasses/Fastpass+ than not be able to skip any lines without an upcharge.

  7. Just visited Disney for 6 days. Was a beta tester pre-booking my Fastpass+ at home. LOVED IT. Have be to Disney park 50+ times in my life (used to live in Florida) so consider myself an expert. This time, flew in, and due to August heat, only went to park in mornings and late nights.
First day, due to flight, arrived at 5:15 and park closed at 11. We went to Small World, Winnie the Pooh, new Ariel ride, and bonus Buzz Lightyear with FastPass+, plus got traditional FastPass for Peter Pan. Also got to do tradional no-wait rides like PeopleMover and Carousel of Progress and had dinner. Also saw Electric Light Parade and Fireworks. Ended the night with Haunted Mansion. Did all this in about five and a half hours. The whole trip was like this, where I knew we were doing more rides in less time compared to people who don't know the Disney tricks. Morale: If you liked and did well with the old FastPass system, give FastPass+ a chance. With so much less running around, you might like it even more.
