Testing FASTPASS for Fantasmic! (April 22-27, 2013)

Preparation for the new FASTPASS+ service is well underway. Here's the latest test related to that addition:

"At [the] Walt Disney World Resort, we continually look for new ways to enhance the Guest experience. As part of that effort, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will conduct a test of Disney’s FASTPASS Service for select Fantasmic! shows April 22-27[, 2013]. During the test, FASTPASS tickets will be available to Guests near the tip board beginning at noon, while supplies last. Holding a Fantasmic! FASTPASS ticket will not impact Guests’ ability to obtain a FASTPASS ticket for another attraction. We are conducting this test as part of our ongoing commitment to seek feedback and provide our Guests with the mix of experiences they most enjoy. The experience we are testing may or may not end up as part of our park offerings."

Sounds quite interesting. Similar tests were also conducted at the Magic Kingdom Park last year, by the way.

  1. not sure if I understand the benefit of a fantasmic fastpass if it doesn't impact your ability to obtain other fastpasses: surely guests who might want to see fantasmic later would grab a fastpass just in case. instead of fantasmic being "1st come, 1st served" it becomes a fastpass only event. less guests turn up an hour or more before the show in order to grab a seat, giving disney cast members less time to peddle their wares to bored guests!
maybe i'm missing something but there seems to be little real benefit to either guests or disney here...
