Fun Spot America's Expansion Update: Feb. 2013

Fun Spot America's great expansion continue to amaze us. The size and scope of this project is really surprising, especially since many consider Fun Spot's parks as minor attractions. This expansion is going to change a lot of things, especially since theming elements and quality rides are all going to be included with this project.

Today we have a few photos of this expansion area that were sent to us by Mr. Patrick Tuten, the Creative Director of Fun Spot America. We hope you will enjoy them, along with the comment written by Mr. Tuten:

There’s a lot going on [around Fun Spot America], and I’ve included some photos of our progress. We’re in the process of implementing our Route 66 theming in the existing Go Kart area. We’ve added lots of themed signage and we’ve begun repainting the concrete.

The entry building is well under way as is the SkyCoaster/Restaurant building and a new freestanding restroom facility. The poles are being installed for the new Go Kart track and the SkyCoaster is very close to being assembled. It’s scheduled to be raised in about a week or so depending on weather, etc. That should happen in about a day.

The GCI wood/steel hybrid coaster (White Lightning) has begun it’s [sic] installation, almost all of the footers are finished. And, the Chance/Vekoma steel suspended coaster (Freedom Flyer) is going up very fast at this stage. We’re planning a soft opening in May with the Grand Re-Opening on June 8th. Don’t blink, it’ll be here before you know it.

Yes, we are personally really excited to see this area shaping up! It is going to be a great place to hang out with family members and friends, enjoying good rides without having to spend to much.

A big "thank you!" to Mr. Tuten for sending us the pictures, all of which are subject to the copyright of Fun Spot.

  2. Fun Spot could teach the big players a thing or two about timescales - things appear to be moving very quickly!

  3. Great, more playground jokes...... You'd think followers of this blog would know that the playground comes up for the festival every year.
On topic, glad to see Fun Spot is getting a ton of much needed work. Tourists on their off days and the often ignored locals need alternatives to dropping almost a hundred dollars a person to have fun.
