New WDW Theme Park Maps for 2013 - Kodak Gone

It's unbelievable, but we are just a few hours away from 2013, and this means that renovated park maps will be introduced in three of the four Walt Disney World Resort theme parks. We are referring to the maps that will soon be available at the Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, and Disney's Hollywood Studios (the newer park map for Disney's Animal Kingdom has not been released yet). Let's take a close look at them to see what's new:

- MAGIC KINGDOM -

New additions:
  • The Kodak Sponsorship has finally ended, so the back of the map doesn't have the Kodak ads starting from this year. That page now shows an ad for the Disney Photopass Service;
  • New Fantasyland cover with Belle;
  • Advertisement for the new "My Disney Experience" app;
  • The map looks even more cluttered now.
- EPCOT -

  • New Star Tours 3D cover (which looks very nice, by the way);

Thank you for taking a look at these new park maps with us! See you real soon with more news and updates.

  1. I think it's pretty obvious that given how much space they are using to advertise the new app that this is the direction they want the park maps to go in for the future. Especially now without a sponsor picking up the printing costs, I see the park maps as the next thing to go...

  2. Been honest I would love to see them go. There everywhere in the parks at the entrance,in shops,restaurants and outside toilets. In each land they should have a big map and a list of attractions and restaurants/shops in the current location. The maps just end up in bins,dropped on the floor or left somewhere.

  3. This means Epcot can get new rides, because Kodak blocked them for other companies!

  4. Sorry Savo - I'm a map/not app person. I'm ALWAYS pulling out my map in the parks (even tho I pretty much know where everyting is). It's a good way to go over your plan for the day, & we check off what we've done & take the map home so we can use it to help plan our next trip. Sometimes, I'll take home an extra one to help someone who's planning a trip - it's soooooo much easier to show them on paper & they have someting to keep to help them plan their trip. : )

  5. Please do not discontinue the park maps Disney! Not everyone has a smart phone/wants to use it while in the parks. I love collecting the paper maps from each of my trips.

    For the PhotoPass advertisement couldn't they have at least shown a picture from each park? Why did they put the castle on the Epcot and DHS maps? It is not even that good of a picture. I liked how before it had the Kodak ad but with pictures of the parks the map was for. For DHS is was Capture the Show and a picture of Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

    I do agree the MK map looks cluttered. Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom should be listed under Main Street because that is where you start. There are too many blue circles with special events and it is distracting. I think the Pirates League should be taken off of Adventureland as should the Barber Shop for Main Street and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for Fantasyland.

    Thanks for all you guys do. You guys rock!

  6. I have a smartphone (the iPhone 5 in fact with My Disney Experience) and I know the MK better than my own hometown, but getting rid of the maps is a horrible idea. I get a map everytime I enter the park everyday and I keep them to look at when at home dreaming of Disney. It doesn't cost Disney much AT ALL to make these maps in large, just like it doesn't cost them almost anything to make those balloons and they charge $8 for them. If Disney can spend 1.5 BILLION dollars and counting on their NextGen crap then they can afford to supply guests (Disney's name for paying customers) maps. If you don't want a map don't get one :)

  7. If paper maps are ever eliminated from the parks, it'll be a long, long, long, long time from now, when it'll be unthinkable that anyone won't be able to access the internet. Moving people towards the app is obviously what they're doing because even one person not picking up a map will save them printing costs.
