Universal Studios Update: Filming in Progress (Part 2)

Welcome to part 2 of this new Universal Studios Florida update (PART 1 can be found at this link).

Let's continue to take a look around this ever-changing theme park:

Universal's Superstar Parade was coming:

DISASTER! is still one of our favorites:

Work continue on the new London themed area of the park:

Ducks were lined up on this temporary floating dam:

Mandatory panoramic photo of the area (FULL-SIZE):

The main building of this new area is even bigger than the Transformers building! Much, much bigger:

Going through the new waterfront area:

We'll get there in a minute:

More photos of the huge building:

It is unbelievably big:

It is so gig that it takes up a little more than one third of the land of this new expansion!:

The building seen from the other side of the lagoon:

A look at the Transformers building from a distance:

It is now time to check out each and every one of the new Simpsons-themed games:

Krusty is NOT a game. Just making sure:

Who doesn't like the fuzzy man?:

Multiple rumors point to a possible expansion of the Simpsons theme in the rest of the area, including the waterfront. To support that, it looks like some of the former booths have been removed from the area:

Transformers... again:

As we stated at the beginning of this article, some filming was taking place in various areas of the park. First of all, photographers were taking photos of a family enjoying a meal in front of the Monsters Cafe':

They got to eat for free, and they will also be featured in advertisements nationwide. Lucky!

Some filming was also being done next to Mel's Drive-In:

More photos being taken:

And that should be all.

  1. Do we know what is going into Jaws areas yet?

  2. @Anonymous,

Universal announced months ago that they are indeed expanding the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando when they announced a copy of WWOHP to be built in Universal Studios Hollywood. However, they did not release specifics regarding location, completion date, or concept for the expansion. Strong (all but confirmed) rumors have continually stated that Jaws and the surrounding Amity area were removed in favor of expanding Potter into that site. Due to the fact that the new waterfront resembles a London landmark called the Victoria Embankment, and that plans are underway to connect this area to the Potter area in IOA, Universal theme park fans concluded that the Potter expansion is what is replacing Jaws/Amity.

You can expect the expansion to include Diagon Alley (the London aspect of the HP films), a Gringotts Bank-themed indoor roller coaster, a larger Ollivander's wand experience, and a Hogwarts Express attraction that transports guests between the Potter areas in USF and IOA.

  3. Is it just me or in the past few years Universal has really gone above and beyond to create new attraction and refreshing old ones. But i guess this is to make up for the years of stagnation after OIA. But still Wizarding World, now Diagon Ally and Transformers. Refresh of Spiderman, Simpsons, Despicable Me, and Disaster. Thats a lot of projects!

  4. I really hope they theme the Transformers building properly or else it's going to stick out like a sore thumb.

  5. Appreciate the updates and the work that goes into them! With the majority of New Fantasyland behind us I definitely most look forward to watching all of Universal's projects!

Question - the plateau of dirt in the lagoon, is that going to be dug down at some point? It seems a little unsightly and I notice garbage sitting in the corner in the panoramic shot.

  7. I sincerely hope once the new area is announced as Harry Potter and the land finished that we'll continue to get your updates rather than ignoring it.

  9. Any news on your end yet when Transformers will be finished, let alone the new Harry Potter area? Is that usual for Universal to keep their dates a secret?
