Disney Movie Summer Games: Daily Update (July 31)

Here you are today's update on the Olympic Summer Games, as always presented by Disney Family Movies:
_________________________________________________________________________
Tuesday, July 31st DFM Summer Games Update: We're only in week one, but already the Games and the memories from London are piling up. Monday saw moments of great triumph for Team USA, including the remarkably poised 17-year-old Missy Franklin beating her own U.S. record and tasting gold in the 100 meter backstroke (on Twitter: @FranklinMissy), and, astonishingly, Marti Malloy coming off a lose in judo to pick up bronze for Team USA (on Twitter: @Martidamus). Monday also brought moments of disappointment, as the Men's Gymnasts failed to podium (on Twitter: @USAGym) and Ryan Lochte fell to Yannick Agnel of Team France. However, we have a feeling Lochte Nation (on Twitter: @ryanlochte) isn't done yet!
But perhaps no better memory will come out of the Games Monday than the news that British Olympic t…

Fantasyland Expansion Progress: Photos from Above

Image
"Photos from above?" you may ask. "What does that mean?" Well, if you have been a follower of our site since it debuted, you know that when we refer to photos taken from "above" we mean that we had to go somewhere high enough for us to take panoramic photos of a park. In Magic Kingdom's case, we chose the Contemporary Resort. You are not surprised, are you? Well, we are definitely sure you will enjoy these photos. Therefore, let us take a look at the new Fantasyland Forest... from above:

Disney Movie Summer Games: Daily Update (July 30)

Enjoy today's update on the Olympic Summer Games, presented by Disney Family Movies: _________________________________________________________________________
Monday, July 30th DFM Summer Games Update: What stories from the weekend in London!  Sunday saw Team US swimmer Dana Vollmen set a world record in her 100 meter preliminary, despite losing her swim cap (on Twitter: @danavollmer), and Michael Phelps failing in his quest for a 2012 gold medal as Team France defeated golden boy Ryan Lochte and Team USA (who took silver). We saw Spain shockingly shut out of soccer (a/k/a football), and Team USA in both men and women's volleyball looking at the top of their game (on Twitter: @USA_Volleyball). Sometimes, though, the not all stories at the Games have fairytale endings , and it was hard to top the sadness of gymnast Jordan Weiber (on Twitter @jordyn_weiber) and British marathoner Paula Radcliffe, neither of whom will move forward for very different reasons. But as with all good …

Disney Movie Summer Games: Daily Update (July 29)

Here is today's update on the Olympic Summer Games, presented by Disney Family Movies. Enjoy:
_________________________________________________________________________
Sunday, July 29th DFM Summer Games Update: Already these Summer Games have featured so much drama! Swimmer Ryan Lochte took gold in the 400 meter-individual, with Michael Phelps failing to reach the podium; China winning the Games' first gold, with Yi Siling conqueroring in air rifle shooting; and, heartbreakingly, the Irish gymnast Kieran Behan, an Olympian who defied his doctor's odds that he might ever walk again after a botched leg operation and suffered brain-damage during training, failing to qualify for the finals in either event but refusing to be seen as anything but a fighter.
For the Games' Day Two, we'll see an incredible 24 different sports playing out all over London, from the preliminary men's basketball, with Team USA taking on France (on Twitter: @usabasketball) to the medal eve…

Animal Kingdom: Stomach Illness Linked to New Tour

Sad news coming from Disney's Animal Kingdom. The Orlando Sentinel reported something very preoccupying a few days ago. According to one of their latest articles, multiple guests that have experienced the new "Wild Africa Trek" tour in the last few months (June and July 2012) have been struck by a bad illness which has provoked many symptoms like nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, and stomach pains.
Despite the on-going investigations of the Orange County Health Department, the Orlando Sentinels reports that the source of the illness is still unknown at this time. Some of the possible case scenarios include the consumption of contaminated water of food during the tour. Of course, we all know that Disney always takes precautionary steps to avoid having to deal with such difficult situations, but it looks like they failed this time. And this is definitely not something to be taken lightly.
The Orlando Sentinel finally reported that "all evidence so far suggests the illness …

Fantasyland: Big Top Souvenirs to Include Kitchen

A very interesting news regarding the Fantasyland Expansion was recently reported to us by our sources. It looks like the new Big Top Souvenirs merchandise location (the big blue tent currently being refurbished in the Storybook Circus area) will also feature an open kitchen very similar to what can be currently seen in Main Street U.S.A., Hollywood Studios, or Downtown Disney. Just to clarify, an open kitchen is a small area in a store in which cast members prepare items like cotton candy and caramel apples. Here's the official news: _________________________________________________________________________

Now, you are stepping aboard a maintenance service elevator to trace their steps as the star of your very own episode of the classic CBS series “The Twilight Zone.” You’ll enter the fifth dimension and have an encounter with the disappeared hotel guests, leading up to a 13-story plunge that’s faster than the force of …

Rapunzel Now Meeting Inside Town Square Theater

We have got a quite surprising news today. Thanks to the report of one of our readers (that will remain anonymous), we found out the reason why Rapunzel was not meeting near the Town Hall during our last visit to the Magic Kingdom. Indeed, it looks like she asked Aurora to be able to take her place inside the Town Square Theater, which is the new, neatly themed meet-and-greet location in Main Street U.S.A. Here's the note we received just a few hours ago: _________________________________________________________________________
Rapunzel has been moved inside of the Town Square Theater due to her line being so long outside and not many people wanting to see Aurora, who was inside of the Theater before. As of now, Aurora makes random nightly appearances and because of this, guest are never guarenteed either princess when asking. When Aurora appears in the Courtyard, Rapunzel is in the Theater. This usually only happens at night... ____________________________________________________…

One, a large 140-pound loggerhead rescued from Melbourne Beach, Fla., came to SeaWorld due to an injury to its shell that was likely caused by a boat strike. Upon arrival, the turtle received a health assessment and extensive treatment including blood work, X-rays and antibiotics. All of the wounds to the turtle’s shell have since healed; however, a portion of its shell was lost in the process.

A smaller green sea turtle was also returned today. This green turtle was found beached at Canaveral National Seashore with wounds to both its front flippers and neck caused by monofilament fi…
