Universal Orlando Raises Prices Again to Match Disney

Despite the fact that Universal Orlando had just raised the prices a few weeks ago, the Resort did it again. Granted, the price for a one-day ticket increased by only $1.00, but it does show that this move was done to match the prices of Walt Disney World's four theme parks.

Here's an excerpt from the Orlando Sentinel's article that confirmed this:

Universal Orlando this week tacked an extra $1 on to the price of a one-day, one-park ticket — matching the $89 base price set last week by Walt Disney World.

There's one "good" news, though, as it seems like Universal Orlando will keep its base one-day ticket price at $88.00 for all tickets sold on their website. This certainly shows that it is much better to buy your tickets online before coming to the parks. You may be able to find even better deals this way (we always recommend to be always very cautious when buying anything on-line, of course).

  1. Thank you Universal!
Family: OK, Universal costs as much as Disney now...we can go to either park for one day...20 rides and lack of great themed areas VS over 40 rides and Disney magic, fireworks, well-thought out entertainment...DUH!
The only thing is that this summer HP World is open, Fantasyland is not, though I would still pick Disney...they need to pick it up and do something FAST...

  3. I'm interested to hear that. Universal has a new parade, Cinematic Spectactular, and Minion Mayhem this Summer, and IOA still has Potter, along with Spider-Man and the rest of Marvel (coming off Avenger's breakthrough success, and the new Spider-Man movie). Not to mention longer operating hours than last year at this time.

Disney has no new rides until a vague "Holiday" timeframe.. not to mention, the target audience for the Disney park with 40 rides (Magic Kingdom, I presume) isn't quite the same as IOA/USF. So I'm not sure how Universal "shot itself in the foot" ... after all, if you can't pay a dollar extra, maybe you should stay home and go to Six Flags or something.
