New "Test Track - Presented by Chevrolet" Renderings

The popular Test Track attraction has just closed at Epcot for a major refurbishment, and the ride is slated to reopen this fall with an entirely different look. Test Track - Presented by Chevrolet (that is the official, complete new name) will be an amazing experience. The people behind the official Disney Parks Blog (yes, it's them again!) have shared with us some more information and renderings of this renovated ride. Take a look:

New Renderings Depict a Reimagined Test Track at Epcot

Many of you have asked for an update on what’s going on at Test Track at Epcot, and we’re happy to announce that new renderings were just released by Walt Disney Imagineering this morning!

When complete, the reimagining of this attraction will allow guests to design their own custom concept vehicle, and then put it through its paces on the exhilarating hills and switchbacks of the Test Track circuit. In the post-show, guests can make a TV commercial featuring their concept car or truck, race their car or truck on our virtual track and take a picture with their custom concept vehicle.

The attraction is currently scheduled to reopen late fall.

So, what do you think? Do these new renderings make you more excited about this refurbishment? We encourage you to share your thoughts with us, as always.

  1. I don't like all the neon colors and computer type theme. I already want the old one back!

  2. I'm extremely excited about the new look of Test Track. Definitely has a TRON look to it even though Disney said they weren't doing a TRON overlay to it.

  3. Do you think that the ride itself will change or will it just be the post ride "design" stuff?

  5. @Anonymous: No the ride system will not change. The track layout will not change either. Only the theming is changing. As for whether the new is better than the old, I'll say what I also say. Disney will and must change to keep attracting new guests. You'll always have the memories, but the old Test Track is gone forever. Having ridden it probably 50 times since it opened, I'm ready for a change.

  6. This ride was always a disappointment for me. It always broke down either when you were lined up for over 1 hour or if you actually sat down, it would then break down. It can only get better. I'm not clear how this ride will be both computer generated and a sit down ride.

  9. I believe it's suppose to represent the computer simulation of car design. I believe this is exactly what the ride should be. It won't (hopefully) be outdated so soon. I like what I see and it should be pretty interesting.
