Bus Testing at the Walt Disney World Resort

Beginning this month (March 2012), the Walt Disney World Resort will begin testing a new kind of bus that has a larger capacity to carry more Guests on the higher volume routes. While these longer vehicles, known as articulated buses, are common within the transit industry, this is the first time Disney has assessed their feasibility around the property. The testing will be done through mid-April.

  1. oh god NO!!!
the "bendy bus" was a pain in the butt when used across London and was eventually scrapped. Hopefully Disney will see sense and do the same.
Need more capacity? provide more buses!
not exactly rocket science is it?

  2. Makes perfect sense... it was always annoying when at the end of the evening as the parks were closing you had to wait for two or three buses before you could get on, the London buses had a capacity of 150 people so this must be more than double that of the current buses they have in operations.
Less waits = happier guests. Same amount of buses = same costs.

  3. Hi,

Great website, but its not the first time Disney have tested articulated buses, they had a VanHool AG300 in 2003 but never bought any. This is the first time they have tested the NovaBus LFS artic however (the same type as the rigid ones bought in 2010). I'd say these would come in useful for the All Star routes which are always full to capacity at peak times, so would be useful if Disney allocated them to these certain routes.

  4. Are these new buses "eco" friendly? Using less gas or as some newer buses use natural gas? Or will the footprint be bigger with bigger buses?
