Downtown Disney Marketplace - Refurbishment Projects in Early 2012

Marketplace Concrete Replacement Project - IN PROGRESS
The Marketplace Concrete Project consists in replacing concrete in the area near the World of Disney Store to create a more appealing experience than the former concrete. The project will continue in phases through the beginning of summer 2012.

Wolfgang Puck Express Expansion
 - IN PROGRESS

Wolfgang Puck Express at Downtown Disney Marketplace is expanding the restaurant’s covered seating area. “Nano walls” (lower walls) will be installed to will allow Guests to dine in an open air seating environment, but can also be closed during inclement weather. The restaurant will also be adding additional outdoor seating in the walkway between the restaurant and Mickey’s Pantry.
The restaurant will continue to to remain open during the construction, but only the indoor seating area will be available. The project should be complete by the end of this month (February 2012).

Basin
 - IN PROGRESS
The Basin store at Downtown Disney Marketplace closed on January 9, 2012 to undergo a major transformation that will introduce a sleek modern look, including some new unique interactive stations such as a larger sink area for Guests to test and enjoy their unique salt and sugar scrubs. A new beauty bar will be installed to prepare fresh facials, and all of the Basin favorites will remain, such as custom fresh-cut soaps, bath bombs and bath salts.

Rainforest Café Refurbishment
 - IN PROGRESS

Rainforest Café is beginning an extensive refurbishment project that will add a new “Lava Lounge” bar area and recreate the restaurant’s outdoor theming with a brand-new iconic volcano that features a new dramatic show. The new volcano includes elements such as fire, LED lava flow, steam and sound effects to create a volcanic eruption every half hour as a show for Guests in the Marketplace. The restaurant will remain open during the construction, however large construction walls will be in place with tall scrims to block most of the work from view.
The project started January as crews began demolition work on the current volcano. This first phase should be completed by the end of March 2012. We expect the overall project to be complete in fall 2012.
