Disney Dining Plan - New Adjustments for 2012

Some positive adjustments will be introduced in 2012, regarding the Disney Dining Plan. Take a look:
_________________________________________________________________________

The following changes are being implemented effective Jan. 1, 2012:
  • Most Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park, Resort hotel, Disney Water Park, EPSN Wide World of Sports Complex, and the Downtown Disney Area restaurant locations accept the Disney Dining Plan, including Operating Participants. Some of the Operating Participant restaurants that join the Disney Dining Plan in 2012 include Rainforest Café (at both Downtown Disney and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park), T-REX, House of Blues Restaurant, Bongo’s Cuban Cafe, Paradiso 37, Fulton’s Crab House and Portobello.
  • The list of eligible snack items has expanded and includes a large variety of single-serving food and beverage items available at carts, kiosks, quick-service and select merchandise locations across property. The Dine Plan snack symbol is posted on menu boards and next to many of the eligible products in merchandise shops.
  • All Disney Dining Plan packages include a Resort Refillable Drink Mug allowing Guests to refill it, free of charge, only at quick-service locations at the Disney resort where they are staying for the length of their current stay.
  • The Quick-Service Dining Plan (QSR) was modified and includes 2 QSR meals  and 1 snack per Guest, per night.
  • The Disney Wine & Dine Plan add-on is no longer available for purchase.
FAST FACTS:
  • Gratuities are not included unless otherwise indicated. An automatic 18% gratuity charge will be added to the bill for parties of 6 or more. An automatic gratuity charge may also be added to the bill for items order that are not included in the DDP (for example, alcoholic beverages).
  • Children ages 3-9 must order from a children’s menu where available at all quick-service and table-service restaurants
  • Meals and snack entitlements can be used in any order throughout a Guest’s resort stay until their total allotment of entitlements is depleted or until midnight on the reservation check-out date. For example, a Guest can use all of their snack entitlements on first day of stay, but will not have any snack entitlements to use during remainder of stay.
  • Guests may not redeem meals or snacks for any Guests who are not on the Disney Dining Plan.
  • Meal and snack entitlements are linked to each person on their Key to the World (KTTW) card. Guests should present their KTTW card at the time a meal or snack is purchased and specify the number of meals or snacks being redeemed for Guests ages 10+ and for Guests ages 3-9.
  • Substituting entitlements:
    • Guests may use their TSR entitlements in a QSR location; however, Guests may not use their QSR entitlements in a TSR restaurant.
    • Guests may not combine Snack entitlements to purchase a TSR or QSR meal.
    • Guests may not use remaining QSR or TSR entitlements to purchase Snacks.
    • TSR and QSR meals during lunch and dinner meal period include a dessert. This may not be substituted for an appetizer or salad. If Guest would like to order an appetizer or salad, the price of item ordered will be added to their bill.

It is great to see more restaurants joining in the Disney Dining Plan! Also, the addition of more snacks on the list is surely a welcome change (the more choice, the better, right?). We'll continue to give you all the latest updates on eventual news related to this subject.

  1. I find this more negative than positive. Lately, the Dining plan has been the kiss of death for most restaurants on Disney property. Seems the food quality goes down when they accept it. Very disappointed to see House of Blues on the list. I hope their food doesn't take get sacrificed from it. That is the best place in Downtown to eat.

  2. I think it is wonderful that they added new restaurants- especially the T-Rex which is very expensive otherwise. We love going here and now I am happy I can use it with the Plan.
