Universal Studios Update - Painting & Workin' (Part 2)

Here we are on part 2 of our Universal Studios update (PART 1 can be found at this link). Let's continue our tour of the park:

All the globes for Universal 360 are gone, and the barges may be removed or re-purposed soon (one has already been removed):

Smaller barges have started to appear...
They're absolutely preparing a new nighttime show, no doubt on that:

This area is being used to access the lagoon. Another confirmaion that they're working on something new:

Work on the replacement of the handrails near the lagoon is almost done:

I had never noticed this sign either...

Did you know that the Wharfside Cannery is actually... a set of bathrooms:

A long line for JAWS:

Most of the queue for the ride was closed for an after-hour event. I found this ridiculous. People have to wait under the sun for this reason, and the line is a mess:

The Simpsons:

Another small barge:

Man in Black:

Something has to come in this area:

Let's check out the old Hard Rock Cafe', which should be demolished soon, according to some reliable rumors:

No walls are up... yet:

It still sits abandoned and forgotten:

This is a pretty creepy photo:

?!:

Now, onto the rest of the Kid Zone:

Even though Jimmy Neutron's store has closed, a lot of Nickelodeon items can be find at the Universal's Cartoon Store, located in front of Animal Actors On Location:

Also, some Nickelodeon Characters can be seen near the Kid Zone Pizza Company:

A nice artwork:

...and a nice Sponge(Bob)

Another area that really needs to be refurbished an actually used:

They're still working on replacing some of the doors of the building:

What a nice area:

The photo spot in front of Mel's Drive-In has not returned yet:

What a thematic mess, huh?:

The stage for the Vinyls in front of Mel's Drive-in has disappeared :

Inside the Terminator shop, we found some interesting items:

Promises of things to come? Who knows...

Anyway, thank you very much for reading, and we sure hope you enjoyed this update. By the way, if you were looking for PART 1, look no further, as it can be found right here.

  1. are those wooden painted doors staying at the garden?

  2. Thanks for the update! But huh? Why would they sell Transformers Merchandise in the Terminator Store? That's a bit weird since apparently there's 'no future plans' to bring it to Orlando... interesting!

  3. Wow, you managed to do an entire 2 part update without mentioning or showing anything to do with Halloween Horror Nights! Impressive and ridiculous at the same time!

  4. @Anonymous #1: Yes, they are currently placed in the garden area of the park, which is called the Gardens of Allah. They are just painted wooden boards.

@Charlotte: Yes, it is interesting. Of course, at Universal they sell a lot of stuff that is usually not related to a certain ride they have on property, but it is still interesting to see...

@Anonymous #2: We are sorry that this update didn't please you, but we can tell you that you will NEVER, ever see photos or even mentions of Halloween events on this site. Never. It's just a personal choice, and I hope you will understand that.

  5. with the exception of the queues outside Jaws, I've never seen Universal Studios looking so quiet!

what time of day were these pictures taken?

  6. About the stuff in the Terminator shop, I also noticed some Avatar merchandise being sold there as well as World of Warcraft merchandise (as of my past visits). Honestly, the sale of Transformers shirts doesn't mean anything really, IMO at least.

With that being said, however, I think T2:3D will eventually become a Transformers ride in the future.

  7. @OTPN
Mind if I ask, in regards to your choice of dismissing Halloween related events, is the OTPN team comfortable with taking pictures of winter holiday events?

  8. I have to take my hat off to the OTPN team one more time. Truly another great update. One thing that was particularly impressed with is that you made it seem like HHN wasn't even being set up at the park! I know that it's your choice not to cover all halloween-y stuff, and that's a-ok with me (it's only one holiday anyways)and so I find it awesome that you took the challenge upon yourself to make an update while not taking a single picture of HHN related pieces. Commendable, truly commendable. Keep up the good work! ^_^

  9. I wonder what that object is (or was) near the old Hard Rock Cafe. Cigarette butt canister, perhaps? Looks awfully perplexing. Oh, and please disregard my previous comment, as I already found the answer in your FAQ's page. :)

  10. @fatdonut: they were taken during the afternoon, so that may explain the lack of people. During the morning, the park is much more crowded.

@Anonymous #3: I agree with you... Terminator 3D may be the future site for Transformers, since both rides are about robots (I know, lame explanation, but it still makes sense to me), even though I would prefer far more to see them expanding the park, rather than replacing existing rides.

@JiffyPop: Yes, our FAQ page can confirm you that we do not cover any seasonal event like that. It is a personal belief, but we are sure it doesn't affect our site, as we are still committed to bring you all the news and rumors from the parks. Thank you very much for continuing to read our updates, and thanks for the nice comment!

@Sacre Bleu!: Thank you so much for your understanding. We really appreciate that, and we hope you will continue to enjoy our update!
