It has now been confirmed that the Magic Masters store at Downtown Disney will close for good in just two days. Here you are some more information, including a reminder about the new shop that will take its place:

A new operating participant will soon be moving into the current Magic Masters location at Downtown Disney West Side. Magic Masters will close on September 25, 2011, the natural end of the store’s contract.
Something Silver will soon open in place of Magic Masters. At Something Silver, Guests will marvel at magnificent pieces of jewelry from one of the country’s finest sterling silver sellers, [as well as]... fashionable accessories alongside a collection of timeless, everyday basics. Over 50 national and international designer collections will be showcased, featuring designers such as Jordan Schlanger and Kit Heath.

This addition is not very exciting in our opinion, but we have to keep in mind that the square footage of that store is very limited, therefore Disney would not be able to replace Magic Masters with anything major.

  1. seems every "interesting" original shop in DD is being phased out and replaced with yet another clothing / fashion store.

The area is becoming less and less appealing as an area to merely browse. While Disney may attract more serious shoppers who are willing to part with their dollars, surely they will lose the appeal to casual visitors and families, and the restaurants would surely see a downturn in trade.

I hope Disney start reversing this trend and realise variety really is the spice of life!
