Hidden Gems: Lombard's Seafood Grille

This week we'll start post two new articles that will focus on some quite enjoyable places in the theme parks... that are frequently overlooked. In this update, we'll take a look inside one of Universal Studios Florida's signature restaurants:

- Lombard's Seafood Grille -

This restaurant can be defined as a "hidden gem" also due to its location, that is right on the park's lagoon:

The restaurant is only open for lunch, making it even more difficult for guests to have time to check it out:

The overall "feel" of the restaurant is very classy. The atrium with the stained glass on top makes it even more luxurious and inviting:

In the middle of the big stairway there's a fountain with the main characters that represent the restaurant: fish (remember, we're still in a theme park, so every detail has to tell a story):

The main dining room looks very cozy, and the soft lights invites guests to join the "owners" of the restaurants for a relaxing meal. One negative aspect of the restaurant? No tablecloth:

In the middle of the dining room, we find an aquarium, that contains... fish, of course (notice the consistency of the theme?):

The second floor of the building is reserved for small meetings and exhibits:

Another fish welcomes you:

Ancient paintings on the walls continue to strengthen the classic feel of the eatery. Also, notice the stained glass that was mentioned beforehand:

The second floor looks even more luxurious than the first floor:

Let's take a look inside some of the nice meeting rooms:

The wall-to-wall theming of the rooms is quite impressive:

Going to another meeting room:

More paintings on the walls:

This secluded room was the best one of them all:

The fireplace was really great:

But the thing that really struck me was this amazing bookcase, which was embedded in the walls of the structure:

Also, the view from the room is quite enjoyable, as you can get a bird's-eye view of the park:

- UPDATE -

One of our readers, Eric, pointed out that some areas of the restaurant look a lot like Disney's Club 33. Take a look at these pictures, courtesy of Eric:

It looks very similar, right? Lombard's meeting room just looks a bit brighter than Club 33. thanks again to Eric for providing us these interesting side-by-side photos!

We hope you've enjoyed this quick walk-through of this restaurant. We also hope that, during one of your future trips to the park, you will at least take a look inside, and if you like the place (and the prices!), why not giving it a try? We will soon try the food too (yes, we still haven't eaten there yet), and post a review of the quality of the food items.

Have a nice day, and stay tuned for another "Hidden Gems" update, coming later today!

  4. I had no idea this place had an upstairs! So cool to see that! I ate there recently in May 2010 & 2011 and the food was good both times!
