The Making of "One Ocean" - Color

Here you are a new edition of "The Making of "One Ocean", a series of posts of the SeaWorld Parks Blog that gives us a glimpse behind-the-scenes, to see how the magnificent, new show that debuted last April at SeaWorld Orlando came to life. This week, we'll see something that is really part of the new stadium's set and surroundings: color. Indeed, if you've seen the pictures and the video that we took at SeaWorld's One Ocean, you have surely noticed how bright and vivid colors are now part of the experience. Take a look:

Beneath the Surface: The Making of "One Ocean" - Color

Color is at the center of the sixth video in our series “Beneath the Surface”.
Reflecting the palate of nature, the colorful “One Ocean” set visually transforms Shamu Stadiumwith the vibrant colors of sea and sky. These colors brilliantly adorn the center-stage set, which is shaped as an 80-foot-wide killer whale fluke.
“We wanted to evoke all the colors of the water spectrum - from cobalt blue, to aquamarine and even royal purple – to represent the ever-changing ocean,” says production designer Stanley Meyer.
The designer’s inspiration came from both above and below. “It wasn’t just water,” he went on to explain.   “We also worked in the other end of the spectrum – the hot magenta, yellowand orange colors – to reflect the beauty of a sunriseover the sea.”

“One Ocean" is now open at SeaWorld Orlando [and] at SeaWorld San Diego. [It will open at] SeaWorld San Antonio in June.

Great, isn't it? "One Ocean" is surely much better than the latest version of "Believe", but I know many will agree with us that human-whale interaction is what we need back. What happened to Dawn Brancheau was a terrible accident, but by no means a premeditate murder. It is true, animals cannot be completely trusted all the time, as their behavior can be very unpredictable, but making changes to the show's pools (that's what they're doing), the trainers will soon be able to get back into the water with the killer whales. For now, we'll have to wait. Maybe, we'll have more info on whether trainers will go back to the water or not at the end of the year... For now, we hope you'll have a great day, and see you soon with more updates.
