Disney's Hollywood Studios update - (Feb. 20)

Hello, and welcome to a great Disney's Hollywood Studios update! Not very much has changed since our last update, but there are still some new additions that have "popped up" in these days....

Let's dive right into this new update! As usual, we start with a look at the entrance plaza:

The place looks pretty empty:

Let the memories begin! And let the awful parade start...

This parade, even though it's not on par with most Disney parades, attracted many people... :

So, they opened a small path in the backstage:

... from both ways:

Work continues on the Hollywood Tower Hotel:

Gulp!!:

They're building a brand-new patio on the balcony:

crowds... it's Presidents day weekend... But if it's only one day, why is it a weekend?:

Nice topiaries:

Thy logo:

Playhouse Disney, soon-to-be-replaced by Disney Junior: Live on Stage!:

Brand-new, flat screen TV's are going to be installed here:

A look at the huge (and old!!) TV's that were here, before the refurbishment:

A new CARS 2 poster, inside the Magic of Disney Animation:

Where's Waldo Lotso?:

What happened? Is he gone already?:

No... he was on a break:

Inside "Walt Disney: One Man's Dream", a new quote has been posted on the walls:

More things to come!!:

But they still need to do something here:

Figment has received a major refurbishment!! Look how great it looks now!!

BEFORE:

NOW:

The Dreamfinder?:

Wow:

This movie sounds so stupid, dry and anti-Disney... I will never go to see such movie (Yeah, I know, I'm judging the book from its cover... and it's wrong. But still, it doesn't appeal to me at all):

No more Woody here... He'll be at EPCOT though!:

135 minutes for TOY STORY MANIA. Nothing wrong here:

Meet the characters:

I'm getting tired of reading lies:

These new boxes reportedly hide a secret... Anyone knows more?:

Soon, the area will receive a refurbishment:

New?:

Nah...

The new Phineas and Ferb meet-and-greet will be located right here:

Crazily Busy:

The outside queue of Star Tours will not receive extensive changes! Great news, as it is one of the best queues ever!!:

The side has been repainted:

New busts at the Academy of Television Hall of Fame:

Work on the new meet-and-greet near the hat:

New palms! they will hide the view of the boat in the background:

These have to be the most themed working walls I've ever seen:

POLL: Which park's name can you see in the following picture?

A - Universal Studios
B - Islands of Adventure
C - EPCOT
D - Fiabilandia
E - Disney's Hollywood Studios

And the answer is... E! Great Job!

Lighting for the new meet-and-greet:

I am not sure, but this speaker looks new:

It's pretty annoying... It gets in the way if you want to take a nice picture of the statue:

This needs to go:

Work on Hollywood Boulevard:

And now, let's head to the...

Thanks for viewing!! See you later, with more news and photo-updates!
This is going to be a special week. We plan to have a photo-update EACH DAY!! See you!

  1. I ws there yesterday with my wife. It was insanely busy! We left and went to DTD for a quiet pint and a sit. WROOONG!! Way.. WAY busy there as well.

I noticed those boxes, and was looking for recognisable movie related theming on them (a la the ones by Min and Bill's). Couldn't discern anything though.

Was a bit annoyed by the lack of Tron stuff in the park too. You'd think after having spent £300m on it they'd be selling more merch in the park dedicated to movies...

  2. Thanks for the comment, Kefrif! Sorry to hear that you had to deal with those insane crowds, but I hope you had a great time anyway!

And, those boxes are so mysterious... hope to learn more soon!

  3. hollywood studios is such an interesting park, we all love it cause it's a good park, buried under cheap ideas.
i still love going there, even though there's many changes i wish they'd make.

  4. I wonder why they put that suit jacket on Figmennt? I think he was shown with uncovered arms to show guests some of his "inner workings" but his jacket now covers it up!

  5. all boxes say this side up, up up up.

maybe be relating to the movie up?

  6. I was in WDW when the week that Tron:Legacy opened, and asked if the parks would be getting any merchandise related to the movie and were told that there were NO plans for Tron merchandise. For a company that at times seems like all they care about is how much $$ they can get out of tourists, they missed a great opportunity with Tron.

  9. I'm so happy that they're not changing the Star Tours outdoor queue! I think the ewok village and AT-AT walker look great the way they are. Does anyone know how much longer the scaffolding will be up on the Tower of Terror? I'm going soon with people who have never been to the Studios and I hope they get to see the Tower in all its creepy glory :)

  10. You gotta give MARS NEEDS MOMS a chance. The author of the children's book upon which the movie is based, Berkley Breathed, is a phenomenal writer/artist. And the story is pure Disney, if you take the time (ten minutes, maybe) to read it.

Oh, and thanks for the update!

  11. @Anonymous #1: I agree with you! DHS has a lot of potential, but it needs a lot of new rides...

@Anonymous #2: That's a great idea! I didn't think about that, but I'm not sure if they would do an "UP" meet-and-greet" now, since it has been a couple of years since it came out.

    @BB1646: We'll be going soon, don't worry!

@Majrhavoc: Ok, I will give a try to the movie! I didn't know it was based on a book!

Thanks for the great comments, everybody!

  12. I agree I hope they leave the star tours queue alone. it is great the way it is now. I hope they use the giant screen (to the right hand side when you walk in)when it opens again. I have been there during Star Wars weekends for the past two years and it just sits there black seem like such a waste. I hope they bring a UP meet and greet back!

  13. Amazing the difference a week will make. We were there last Wednesday and the crowds weren't anywhere near that level. The longest wait at Toy Story Mania was around 45 minutes.

  14. Is there something wrong with the picture links. I only see a few but have the comments for all? Thanks!
