Star Tours - The Adventures Continue opens MAY 2011

As we announced some weeks ago, the new Star Tours attraction will open on May 2011.
From the official Disney Parks Blog:

New Star Tours Attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios debuts in May

As part of a media gathering Tuesday night to celebrate the launch of the Disney Dream, Walt Disney World President Meg Crofton combined the magic of Disney and the power of the Force to reveal the Grand Opening date for the new Star Tours attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. Meg announced that the 3-D attraction will make its galactic debut May 20, 2011.

Star Tours Attraction

As you’ve read in past posts from Walt Disney Imagineering’s Tom Fitzgerald, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue will feature new droids, a new Starspeeder, new destinations and even a new pilot. So, as we celebrate the “Dream” aboard the sea we also are looking skyward to a “galaxy far, far away” in 2011.
Stay tuned for future announcements about the Grand Opening of Star Tours at Disneyland Park in California.

Good News, indeed. We are EXACTLY 4 months away from its Grand Opening!!

  1. I have to say that, while I'm excited to see a concrete opening date, the only thing I'm not looking forward to is the new pilot. I'd like to say that I'd warm up to him, but I guess I just like Rex better. The originally proposed new pilot 'Ace' would have been much better suited, I think. Simply bring back Paul Reubens to voice Ace and I'd be pleased as punch.

  2. Is there going to be any exterior change to the building?

  3. I'll be in WDW April 16-23, here's hoping for a REALLY early soft opening!

  4. James, if you're hoping to get into a soft opening, I'd say to aim to go to Hollywood Studios on the 23rd. Even then, I wouldn't hold my breath. They probably won't do soft openings 'til a week or two before opening.

As for external changes, there aren't any reported external changes I've heard of. There will probably be a ton of internal changes, however.
